Harry Kelso was looking for a 1913 Liberty Nickel in January 1920.

I found this little blurb in the January 25, 1920 of "The Sun" newpaper from Pittsburg, Kansas.
In searching, I found this link https://coinbooks.org/v21/esylum_v21n45a12.html for a little background on Harry
At the time of this ad, he was only 17, being born on June 23, 1902. The first ad I see from Harry in the Numismatist was in October 1919, so it can be assumed he would have seen Samuel Brown's first ad looking to buy one

Buying a coin for $20 and selling for $500 would be quite the profit for 1920.

Too bad Mr. Brown did not tell anyone when and how he acquired his 1913 Liberty nickels.
You mean take out 100 years of gossip?
I am assuming he got some calls from the ad. I see it for 7 days (Sunday-Sunday, no Monday). By Friday, the ad was changed a bit to add "no Buffaloes wanted"
Obviously a copycat ad from somebody who did not know that the Brown ad was a setup.
The village of Arma, KS had about 2,180 residents in 1920 and Pittsburg's population was about 18,000. Little has changed in the past century.
Today the ad would have to be placed in social media... Newspapers do not command the readership they once had....but a YouTube video would get a million views in a week or two....far surpassing most individual newspapers of the past...Cheers, RickO
