Let's see some SLQs

Dave99BDave99B Posts: 8,332 ✭✭✭✭✭

Here's a few quick/crappy pics of my favs from my current collection.

Grades scattered all over the spectrum....way more colorful in real life.

Still ponding chasing a full set. We'll see...I sort of like food and housing too.

Have a fun day!
Dave

1917-D TYI 25C Uncentered Broadstrike Mint Error ANACS MS60 Details Full Head.

This poor SLQ was caught in a coin counter and has a few scratches on the obverse.

Still the rarest SLQ error as the only other Type 1 out there that has been in every major error type collection resides in a ANACS G4 holder.

@WingedLiberty1957 that 28-D looks like a shadow on a sunny summer day.

    All old holder AU58's.

Incredible 58’s, and I imagine if regraded today, most would upgrade.

Thanks it was a project I started for kicks joking around with member MFH who called me Mr. AU64. Glancing at MS67 SLQ's and then trying to find AU58's with all the same qualities. I haven't been able to add another coin in years, not for the lack of trying I just haven't found another that would fit. Last coin was purchased on June 24 2011.

SLQs are an odd area of numismatics to me.

I find the design to be one of the most astheically beautiful, yet I rarely (if ever) find one that makes me stop and say "wow".

There just aren't any monsters (that I've seen).

I find the same problem with Peace dollars.

This is my favorite one in my set so far:

I've been in the hospital for over a month now with another month to go. Foot problems caused by diabetes. While there I have written an article on Fully struck Standing Liberty Quarters. The article is complete but I need to edit it and add pictures.
When I get home where the pic database is I will print it here on the forum for all to read and make any comments you feel like.

I have collected SLQ's for years and have a raw and certified set. If any of you have the Robert Knauss book on SLQ varieties and errors, I have about a dozen pics. in it.

I have never been a big fan of the full head designation and my article explains why.

Happy Hunting to all of you. Gary Hamm
