    I can get a mylar ballon at my local supermarket ,that looks remarkably similar, for a few dollars less.

    Scary. If I saw it at a yard sale I would pay $20 for it., if it were close to Easter. Not the only example of silly money being paid for works of art, including commercial art. Even the recently sold Monet is, in my view, mediocre for a Monet. It's one of many he did as studies of light. Interesting when looked at together, such as at the Art Institute of Chicago, not so much as individual works. Why does all this matter? I can't help but think of the alternative uses for $100m, some of them actually unselfish.

    Sold for over $20 mil over it’s pre-sale estimate. A lot of high-end advertising was occurring on the billionaire channels.

    All it took was two with deep pockets.

    Keets, I don't complain about the amount for what a particular coin sells. I'll admit, though, sometimes I find it entertaining in a perverse sort of way.

    I'm a fan of all kinds of art, including some modern art.

    Dad was an art professor, and mom had a master's in fine art. So I grew up with it. I collect it along with coins.

    In my opinion, Jeff Koons is a no-talent hack. The buyer deserves what they got.

    Different hobbies, deeper pockets, and a greater appreciation apparently among a larger, more prominent collector base for leisure activities,.....other than numismatics....apples to oranges.

    Interesting though,...this Rabbit is worth more than the combined value of probably all of the 5 1913 Liberty Head V Nickel's...

    Write up:

    Wow - 1 of 3 in the rabbit edition - and the Monet earlier for $100 million wasn't very attractive either.

    To me it's all relative. Those millions may be like a thousand is to me. He's not going to be able to take either the money or the piece of art with him when he leaves here, so until then what difference does it make?
