1871-cc 50c Authenticity?
I was given a mountain of pictures of random coins in this guy's collection he got from his dad and inside there was this coin. I had to obviously sit here and zoom in and severely crop pictures. I don't want to tip my hat off about the coin nor do I want to get his hopes up as the entire collection would probably need to be bought to do a deal.
Very limiting but from what you can see does it look "right"?

I don't think that thing is real.
Date looks horrible.
Looks real otherwise.
The MM looks off?
I do not have reference material at hand, but being a CC fan, I think that MM is misplaced, indicating a fake coin...I may be wrong...just looks too far to the right and touching (or almost touching) the branch. Cheers, RickO
I think it's real.

The mintmark positions do not seem consistent with the five known reverses.
Take a look here: http://www.lsccweb.org/BillBugertBooks/Bugert-Vol-II-CC.pdf
It doesn't look that far off to me in a cursory glance, compare to an HA auction: https://coins.ha.com/itm/seated-half-dollars/1871-cc-50c-vf20-pcgs/a/1191-4036.s?hdnJumpToLot=1&x=0&y=0#

It is definitely close. Maybe it is the photograph or the cropping but the OPs CC seems to be very close together. Looking at it and comparing the gap between CCs to the inside width of a C, it might be good.
And the H is slightly higher than the A in Half
BHNC #203
The A seems to tip down on the left side in both referenced halves. I looked at various dentil to letter line ups and they seem to be consistent. The OPs coin looks like it matches reverse "A". I would look for a die crack through the E in America if I had it in hand.
The date needs looked at the one and seven are off. Might be rubbing but might be Tom foolery
Best place to buy !

Looks legit to me.
Does anyone think the arrow heads look too big? What about the eagle's crossed-eyed?
The more I look at it the more I think it is legit when compared to the references posted. I think that the properties of the lighting and the photo are making things look off.
What about the shape of the "S's" in states?
@Sheldon_Overton_Baby,
You can tell by the responses that this may not be the place to show the coin. Several of us see nothing "off" about it but you can read the responses and figure that coins cannot be authenticated 100% with the quality of the image you have provided. I apologize for cracking jokes in imitation of the replies. You have a "special" coin. Best to send it to PCGS so they can slab it.
