1938-D Buffalo Nickel w/ OGP and Interesting Documents from Treasury
This must be somewhat similar to opening a time capsule. Enclosed with original letter are two documents, and a beautiful gem+ 1938-D Buffalo nickel. I already checked for D/D, and D/S...the strike is normal. Aside from the fly specks on the obverse, and reverse; from being entombed in the yellow 2x2 envelope for the past 81 years, is a beautiful pastel type pink, teal tone that the pictures do not pick up. Toning is subtle; yet pleasing. Cant be too many of these left? Have you ever seen anything like this? Thanks.

That is cool and I bid on something similar, but felt $80 was past my interest.
Very interesting! They actually picked out a nice full strike for the person who sent the letter.
AND they took the time to explain stuff in the process.

Sooo, it was you that bid me up!!! I was hoping to land this for $40! Geez, thanks Dave...! Lol, I'm happy with item- my reserve was $100 on this one...just had to have it.
The buff is nice, but I also like the envelope and letter. It’s too bad a someone (stamp collector?) raided the envelope of the postmarked stamp.
Nice pickup @PocketArt!
That is very interesting... and nice to have the envelopes/letter with the coin. The black spots might be removed with an acetone soak... worth a try. Cheers, RickO
Interesting for sure.
Was curious to see if the property still exists... very nice looking google street view

Thanks @ricko. I did a 20 min soak in acetone, and specks still remain. If anything was organic on there it should be neutralized though. The spots are probably etched in surface so conservation probably wouldn't help much...besides...the beautiful pastel pink, teal tarnish would be gone! Waite,...I forgot, that would be an improvement in your book! lol.
Beautiful building! Miss Vivian Morrison must have lived in an apartment- doesn't that look like an apartment building?
