I get messages like that all day long. It gets irritating and makes it hard to sell coins at decent prices.

Wow!! That really deserves a response from Napoleon...
Lmfao.
Yup!
Did you end the auction early, taking his generous offer?

Jeremy is way too smart for that. I’m sure he waited to see if someone else would offer $750.😉

If you're surprised by such e-mails you must be new to eBay.

Gotta admit - the obverse is decent.
I never said surprised... very little surprises me on eBay anymore...
"My son needs that coin for his set but I have seven kids and can't afford you B.I.N. " is one I got.
I can imagine what you eBay everyday warriors must see.

I just had one today. Offered me $30 for a little gold foreign coin that I had listed at $65. I countered at $55 and told him the melt value of the gold was $55. He countered me at $42.
Blocked.
Life is too short to negotiate with those types.
Keep in mind--this is a live auction, not just a lowball offer.
No, I totally understand that. I've had that, too, on occasion. I have to bite my tongue to explain to them that auctions go the other direction.
Ah yes, 24 bids. Did you bother to respond?

My only response thus far is that I blocked him. As much as I'd like to respond with something witty and/or snarky, the only thing I can think it will do is embolden him to find a way to mess with me for real, and I don't need to encourage the crazies to come out and bother me. Enough take it upon themselves without my prompting
O Mark,,,you just crack me up !!
I wake up when you come on line !

Amazing.🤔
Tell him you'll accept his $850 for the obverse and give him first shot on the reverse.

This is like the guy who comes up to a table at a coin show and proceeds to pick apart a dealer's inventory while making lowball offers.
Fortunately, it's a lot harder to take up a dealer's time while doing this online. I think this is a no-response delete, and shouldn't take more than a couple seconds to process.
Had a guy like that last month - making offers lower than the current bid. When I pointed out the bids, he claimed the bids were only that high because I was shilling them up. Ooookay, now he's blocked.
