Uncommon Rattlers

I enjoy to collect PCGS Rattler holders. I very much enjoy the history behind PCGS, and the technology used to holder coins back in the mid-to-late 1980’s. Being that I wasn’t around, or even alive for that matter in that area, it’s very fascinating to me.
I’d like to share two very common coins. It’s “rare” to see two common coins still in the original rattler holders. So for a rattler collector such as I, these are gold!
Enjoy!

Not particularly fond of rattlers. See too many of them in the wild.

I like them too, and I really like the first gen. storage boxes as well...

I am also very interested in the history of grading, slabbing and how it has changed the hobby.

Glad this one never got the hammer and cracked.

I love rattlers! I have quite a few. Here are a couple of common coins not typically still found in rattlers.
I really love them with Gold Stickers...

I am not a slab collector, but I do like the old rattlers... seems to present a better 'picture' of the coins... Cheers, RickO

The coin appears to just float in the slab

I don't have many photos of my old rattlers. The second one might be unique.

Like the rattlers, like the coins, really like the coin in the rattlers!
The 34 half looks to have some issues on it surfaces, probably why it is still in a Rattler and not cracked out (but it might just be the images misleading me, I am a lousy grader after all). You kind find real gems in Rattlers like some of the above fantastic coins, or one cannot and thus have to evaluate each carefully.
Best, SH
I remember being invited by a friend of mine to go to a dinner put on by a new company called PCGS at a Long Beach coin show. They were going to be a third party grading service as I remember, that did not make a market in what they graded. ANACS was still king then with photo certificates.
These are both in 1ST Gen Rattlers.
Member Messydesk photographed them years ago and I can't recall is we did full slab pics too?
I haven’t seen many of the Olympic commems in rattlers. Here are two I have bought.
Chance favors the prepared mind.
Those are probably the only two Olympic rattlers.
Mongo like old rattling coins
Are these for sale by chance?
A couple of mine including two gold/gold.

I'm the only jerk thats never owned a rattler yet! Makes me feel like a sub-par collector.
lol
I was expecting one with a $2.5 indian inside but that deal fell through a while back. One day I'll join the club with the right coin.

@Steven59-
Forget it, that coin is toast!

I'll have dust rattling around inside that slab before I break it out.
@robec
09 S-VDBs usually don’t do much for me but that one does! Wow, what a gorgeous coin.
So send it to me - I don't mind - maybe more of a selling point - If Bad Thad can sell his Verdi-Care then stop it - well , you know.................

Here is a 1956 in a little better shape.

Here is my one rattler. Looks better than 63 imo.
I don't own any rattlers now, but I did 30+ years ago. I collected gold coins and put together a 13 piece gold type set.
Some really nice examples shown by all.

I have a few of the ol' Rattlers!
Hey that coin is extremely common. You should definitely send it my way so as not to lessen the value of your other rattlers 😉
That's Awesome!
