Please allow me to introduce myself
Good to meet you all! I hope to be visiting this forum more often, so I thought I’d give a quick introduction of myself.
I began collecting coins as a kid. My dad got my brother and me into collecting as something fun to do together – sifting through pocket change and filling our cent, nickel, dime and quarter albums. Unfortunately, as many kids do, I lost interest in high school and had really dropped away from coins altogether for many years….until I accidentally came across RCC in adulthood.
I’m an old RCC member (rec.collecting.coins), from, oh, 15 years ago or so. I did get to know some of the RCC members fairly well, and miss that group – there were lots of good people there! And, I see that some of them have found their way to this forum, also! I have popped in here a few times, but just have not committed to staying around. I miss chatting about coins, so I’m going to make an effort to pop in more often and try to become a regular part of this group.
My collection is relatively small, and most of it is comprised of circulated US coins (though, I do have some slabbed coins, and I do own one Ancient). I love my Morgans and Mercs, but have collected a little of a good variety of US coinage, and have an appreciation of many different types, designs, varieties, etc.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone, and I hope to get to know you all! Have a great evening, and happy hunting!

Eric Stratton, rush chairman. Damn glad to meet you.
Double post.
And when did you acquire the desire to subject yourself to this self-abuse?
Cheers

My digital cameo album 1950-64 Cameos - take a look!
Okay, had to look up the lyrics. It was "wealth and taste" but more interesting, the song Sympathy for the Devil never charted until a remix in 2003! It was the first song on their 1968 album Beggar's Banquet, originally going to be called "The Devil is My Name"
And for those interested in the lyrics....
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul to waste
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out
Who killed the Kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game, mm yeah
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Tell me baby, what's my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, what's my name
I tell you one time, you're to blame
Oh, right
What's my name
Tell me, baby, what's my name
Tell me, sweetie, what's my name
Welcome! Hope your stay is a pleasant one.

That sounds very similar to what RCC was! So, I'm excited to become part of the group! ....amazing coin photos - that's one of the things I really want to practice and get really good at. I did purchase a light stand and lamps a long time ago, but never got around to using it ("life" got in the way of my fun!). I'll probably be tapping into you coin photo experts for advice, some time down the road.
