Which is the most recent area you experienced in finding a silver coin in the wild?

Explain your discovery. My recent find was from, what else, #1. In the Coin Star return bin. It was a beautiful Franklin. 1963, nothing significant in variety but in very good condition. I was ecstatic! For one, Being so clean, then also, the fact that somebody would actually throw these in for change. WoW.

1964-D quarter from change in a small local grocery store. 4 years ago. First silver in probably 20 years. I don't CRH though.

A standing Liberty Quarter. Two or three years ago. It was in High AU. Got it in change at the little country store around here.

But......two weeks ago I got an Indian head penny back in change at the gas station! 1900 and in good shape. Like most coin nuts I check all my change. I didn't have my reading glasses on so at first I thought it was a Wheatie. Was I suprised! I showed the cashier and she offered to take it back and give me "a real one." I declined her offer. The only other Indian head penny I ever remember getting in change was when I was about 8-9 years old. Long, long ago. A nice man offered me 2¢ for it. I took it. My first coin deal. A RIP! Somethings never change.

These came my way last October. Wife received one at Panera Bread (she has become very good at finding silver in the wild) and I got the other back in change at El Pueblito Taqueria.

Forgot, saw a dime last week and gave it back to the woman who gave it to me. When I told her that it is silver she thought it was cool and was happy to keep it. Another 1964.

I have never knowingly found a silver coin in the wild. I did discover a 40% Kennedy among a group of half dollars and Ike’s I hoarded as a kid.

    Coin star,

I once received a 1944 Washington 25c in change at a McDonalds drive thru,
as she dropped the change into my hand I heard that unmistakable 'PING'

Dug up a 1962 Canadian dime in my backyard about an hour ago. Was the 2nd Canadian silver from there. It was where they brought in some fill when the house was built.

Took my Girlfriend to get a frozen yogurt and paid with a 10 and in my change was a 1963 Quarter. That was about 5 years ago, nothing since.

No idea, sometime in the past month in change, a ‘63 dime which I put with my spare change. Found it as I was looking through the Lowell’s for a W.
