The rules are simple. From now until April 7, on the dates listed below, voting will take place. In each round, you choose which coin should win! It doesn't matter why you chose that coin - maybe you like the design, maybe it has a cool name, or maybe you just hate the other coin. Whatever coin receives the most votes proceeds to the next round until we reach the championship on April 7! See the post here:

The last round determined who will be facing off in this championship round: the Flowing Hair Dollar clearly beat out the Oregon Trail 50c!
So, here is the final bracket!

    Flowing Hair Dollar

    Since I would have had the Indian Cent beating the St. Gaudens $20 gold in the first round, I had to vote for the Flowing Hair Dollar. The High Relief $20 is a great coin. The Low Relief version is not that great in my opinion. The design change had to be made for practicality reasons, but the result was a faint reflection of the original coin. The modern bullion coin interpretation comes off better.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Really surprised that so many here think the Flowing Hair design is better than the St. Gaudens... this shouldn't even be close!

    For voters, it might not be about just the design. The rules let each individual choose whatever criteria he/she want to use. Could be historical significance, what one wants to collect, what one has studied more, a preference for or against gold, whatever. Could even be "revenge" by voting against a coin that earlier beat out one's favorite.

    My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.

    I think the saint-gaudens is one of the most beautiful coins ever made that’s why I voted for it but I give a shout-out to the historical important of the flowing hair dollar
