Flashback to 1976...

......and as a 9yr old I was collecting Lincoln Cents, trying to fill my Blue Whitman fold out albums. Probably started collecting in 1972ish or so. I would ask for dates I needed every Christmas in hopes Santa would deliver. Received about 4 or 5 each time. (Thanks Santa ) Filling those holes slowly was so much fun, with anticipation of always getting more. For some strange reason I always wanted to get a 1919-S... not sure why? I'm sure my Penny Books were closeby, just don't happen to be in the picture.

@LeeBone The nostalgia of when we were young and the only worry was brushing your teeth and when was dinner.
Now, it seems kiddo’s are born with a smart device with a smart mouth...
What is the baseball-like game(?) that you had to use a steak knife with?

LOL I'm thinking it was to open the plastic bag that contained the little "baseballs"

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

In '76 I was 2 years old. My first series was Jefferson nickels, and I pulled a lot out of circulation. Didn't care about condition..didn't know it was important. More about filling a hole.
Ah, the good o'l days.... just think of the social media outrage that would ensue if someone posted that pic on their twitter/facebook/whatever today.... A KNIFE NEAR A CHILD ALERT THE AUTHORITIES!
So true @jrt103.
Ah yes,... I watched Looney Tunes all the time with all of the explosions, gunfire, and total nonsense...…... and every other cartoon from that era.. and never had any urge to act in the same way as they did. We was waaay smarter back in the day than these idiots who find everything so offensive nowadays. What happened from one generation to the next?? The knife I used was with nothing in mind more than opening my toy to play with. Ugh...
I was 9 in 1976, also. A simpler and much happier time. I remember going over to my friend's house after school and looking at Lincoln cents for hours.
We used to dumpster dive and climb in the ravines playing and looking for beer cans to collect, all day long by ourselves, and our parents were never reported to Child Protective Services.
I agree with what you said. How in the world did a new generation that was raised on South Park and Family Guy become so easily offended?? LOL
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍
