National Collectors Mint @ $19.90 per Morgan -- A sign of a tough market

Just caught a commercial from National Collectors Mint promoting Morgans @ $19.90. The price point is at eBay average auction levels and a couple bucks below average Buy it Now in VF condition. I can't imagine what their cost of sale is due to the ad spend but it has to rival an eBay store's average commission. I wonder if this is a canary in a coal mine or a lagging indicator?

Yea... I made that up.

Brilliant uncirculated to FINE condition. That cracks me up when I see the commercial.
1921 Morgans....With 4 dollars shipping, that's 23.90 per coin.
This company is no 'loss leader'. These are 1921's, and in all likelihood, culls.....
Yes. If you buy a single coin it's 5 bucks for shipping and if you buy 5 it's a buck per coin. My point is that it's a price point not seen in a national campaign for a long time. Of course i should have anticipated for the ostriches.
Local "buy silver" place lets me pick them up for that price and I get to pick out the ones I want and no shipping! I have acquired lots of low grade BU's and nice AUs this way.
I called a "buy silver" place & they told me they only buy & don't sell........... or I would have tried the route erwindoc went as well. Shame.......
Do they all have CAC stickers? That's very important for such sellers of high quality material.
It's good to have a source like that. My advice is to touch base with Pawn Brokers in the area. Most have their own eBay stores but you'll find a few that would be happy to allow you to sort through their coins. I have a relationship with 2 or 3 that call me when they want to sell silver.
The antique shops here (several) think Morgan dollars are made of gold - well, at least that seems to be the way they price them...Cheapest cull I have seen (a couple months since I shopped around) was $45...and that was about a 30 grade (generous grade, did not ask to see the coin up close)...Cheers, RickO
National Collectors Mint can sell them at this price... for a chance to set the hook for a bigger sale. Once they get you on the phone, expect pressure for 'better' bargains'... certified coins at a much steeper price than you can get elsewhere. Also... your name and contact info will likely be sold to other outfits, and thus expect more calls for 'specials' just for you...
I prefer to stay away from these outfits... but sometimes a decent deal can be had if one wants to put up with the hassles of it.
