Last Saturday I was at my LCS looking through his junk silver trays of dimes, quarters, and halves. While I was looking through the quarters, I noticed an abundance of 1930s date Washingtons. Eventually, I found a 1934 that looked a little different from the others.

Despite being only in G, its value is still about $40 or so, a good profit margin over the $3 I paid for it. I have been studying the early Washington DDOs a bit since I found this coin.

Another coin I am even more excited about but unable to photograph is a 1945 Micro S Mercury Dime I found. It’s a tough one to photograph because of the luster and toning, but I feel like it’s a 65 and possibly would grade FB as well. I’ve been thinking of sending it to PCGS but I’d like to talk to a Mercury Dime specialist about it first. Only paid $1.20, and if it grades 65FB it’s a $400 coin. Worst case, it’s 64 no FB, and still a $40 coin. The luster pops and I don't see any signs of circulation on it.

Sorry to leave you guys hanging on that one. If I can get good pics, I’ll post them here.

DDO-001; 1-O-I; FS 101. Nice find! There are close to a dozen other very worthwhile doubled dies that can be found in the Washington 25c from 1934 thru 1943 plus a couple of nice ones from 1964 P and D on the reverse and another dozen from 1965-1990-S.

Here's a high grade example paired with an extremely strong DDR. This DDO/DDR combo is found on only about 10% of the DDO coins and all such coins are early die states.

What are all the good cherrypickable doubled dies in early Washingtons?

    I know there's 34, 36, 37, 42-D, 43, and 43-S, but you say there's more. What dates should I look out for?

1942-P-reverse, three different dies; 1964-reverse-several nice dies; 1964-D-one nice reverse die. CONECA hasn't finished the photographic study of these but they are listed with text here-http://varietyvista.com/CONECA Master Listings.htm

The latest Cherrypicker's guide illustrates them, and Wexler also shows images here-http://doubleddie.com/1693274.html

There are literally hundreds of doubled dies in the series but these are the best.
