Question about an old Coin World mag.
Hi guy's, I've had this old mag. from Coin World, for quite sometime. Its from 1971 and its called, "Coin Collecting". I was going through it and came across an editor's picture. His name is Russell Rulau. Is this our Russ, that left us not too long ago? The man with the best Accented Hair Kennedy Half dollar? Here are some pics;

One more Thing... I love the old advertising in these old books, so amusing. Notice, Frank Bowers, name as well.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.1

No.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Russell Rulau was a widely acclaimed token expert, but he is not our guy.

Oh, ok thanks!
Here are some more pics from the mag.
This is funny. The famous 1950d jefferson nickel. Way back in 1971 was rising like a bullet in price, to $10.50! Today its worth about the same.

The real fun will come if you find a Coin World weekly from 1964-65....possibly 200+ pages, packed with thousands of ads for little classifieds to double page spreads.
Largest possible section 96 pages. I remember some two-section papers of 192 pages. I do not recall any three-section papers, but there might have been before my time.
I remember those two section papers. I loved looking through all of those ads in the pre-internet era
I started collecting in 65/66. Used to get my CW at the local shop on Sat. Always with high anticipation. When it did not come in until the following Mon. or Tues. I was really disappointed on the the extra wait. I do remember 2 sections at times and wonder if in addition to the 2 sections, there was an insert of sorts related to a type of dealer directory. Can't be positive of that point. I sure do miss those times. Still could get silver out of circulation.
What was the circulation back then....? 100,000 ? Gets fuzzy -- just cannot remember all their names. ;(
During my time there we exceeded 150,000.
what is the circulation now?
Definitely not 'our' Russ... wish the old threads with pictures were still available... Russ once posted a selfie that was - hmmmmm - let's just say 'startling'...
Cheers, RickO
"Our" Russ was Russ Stringham.
He worked as "Resco" but the domain has expired.
He expired also. A real loss as there was no one better to sell "miscellaneous" stuff through.
He would photo it well and list it on eBay for a VERY nominal commission.
As well as being an acerbic and smart guy.
