What does Grading really cost?

And how long does it really take?
For cost I am wondering what the dollar average is for a submission of, say 10-15 coins after shipping, taxes, fees, and anything else. I am trying to figure out what I should submit and what should remain raw.
Thanks for any help and insight you all can provide for me. Hope to post a lot more here over the next couple months as I begin to liquidate my collection outside of the core 20-30 coins I want to keep until I croak hah!

Since you are already on this site, look at the upper right top and click on PCGS, then look at the upper left and click on grading and you can find all the info you are looking for.
Cheers, and welcome to the site.

It depends on the value of your coins and what company does the grading. The differences can amount to over a hundred dollars and several weeks!
If you want the highest return you'll need to pay the price. Start with our host for details.
Look at PCGS prices.
Depends on what you are submitting.
Pretty self explanatory. Take that...
Add money for shipping and insurance both ways.

When you've got an econ submission on day 30 and someone you know with a newer received date got grades in 10 business days it costs you some mental anguish; and while not broken, is absolute hell on a mouse!
For 15 coins:
Economy with a standard holder (no Gold Shield) is $25 per coin, a $10 Handling fee per submission, shipping for submission valued from $1001-$5000 is $33 for 5-25 coins
Shipping for $1-$1000 is $27 for 5-25 coins
Total - $418
Economy with Gold Shield is $5 per coin more.
Modern (coins 1965 and up) is $16 per coin with standard holder.
Regular (coins valued up to $3000 each) is $35 per coin

It's not the grading, it's the to/from postage that's the killer.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
With inflation, grading costs just a little more than it cost Adam to get Eve. It's like an arm and a leg, now.

don't forget to factor in the cost of the annual membership and it may include a submission coupon/credit. The more coins submitted at one time the cheaper the "per coin" cost becomes because of the shipping costs. I recommend that any value over $750 be sent USPS registered mail. Safer and cheaper than priority insured. Registered fee includes insurance on amount you declare on postal form 3806. Registered mail is available in two flavors: first class registered and priority registered. The only difference is the weight of the shipment (they both take the same amount of slow time to get there. Always choose the registered first class if your shipment is under 13 oz., it will save you a couple of bucks.

@BCSTUX.... Welcome aboard... You have plenty of information above... Good luck with your submission. Cheers, RickO
Sorry but both services are too much. Buy the coin already in the holder.
I spend about $28.00 to $34.00 a coin (shipping both ways included), depending on what extra options I pick. Old coins/Tokens I will Pay extra for the True View picture option. I won’t do that on the modern coins.
But it’s more than I want to spend but what’s a man to do. I am a small spender usually 4 to 6 coins per submissions. I think the most I did was 12 Civil War Tokens and they took the longest. I can’t remember exactly how long though.
I have a lot of coins I would like to send in but for now I store them in the 2” X 2” snaps holders.
Depends on what it is. But generally true for widgets. If you've got Grandpa's Trade Dollar and you want it slabbed, it's kind of hard to buy it already holdered.
For your lower-value coins, take a look at the current ANACS special.

some times best for the new submitter to post pics here first for opinions. Might save you some heartache and dollars.

It is a bit overwhelming...right?
