A little help please - Have you ever seen one of these cabinets?

LeroyLeroy Posts: 186 ✭✭✭

_I found this old wooden box that I first thought was a coin cabinet because of the thin stacked drawers but, then realized that it was intended for something else. If you look close in the last picture you can see numbers on the dividers, If you have any idea what this was used for please let me know.

    Looks like a Machinists storage or box
    Or a printers box for stamps/plates/templates.

    @Leroy

    That looks interesting and very useful. Reminds me of the bins at Lowes/Home Depot that have the various sized loose nut and bolts but on a much smaller scale.

    The numbers appear to be for indexing/cataloging to ease the lookup for a specific nut/bolt or whatever can be stored.

    I need something like that. My nuts/bolts are stores in random tupperwares. ;)

    It looks as if specimen samples were stored in there, and the numbers were reference to a catalog of materials. It could still be used for coins... Not the five ounce silver coins though... ;) Cheers, RickO

    Guess I need to rule out the Skittle color scientists.

    I'd like to clean that up to be a great candy drawer for my grandkids (when they get older)!
