@keets Neil Young is pretty respected as a guitarist- particularly in the sense that his style/tone is extremely recognizable. Of course this is all overshadowed by his songwriting. Here's one of his best, imo. https://youtu.be/U18oECbxVGA
a lot of times when you see trios live they have extra people on stage because its tough to do some of the songs where one guy is supposed to be playing different instruments .
Here is Triumph again with a hired hand but they are covering another trio , or maybe not . I forget whether rocky mountain way was a james gang song originally

If you're only counting 3 member bands, I'm not at all a Rush fan, but I'd include them in the number one seeds, along with Nirvana, Cream, and Emerson Lake and Palmer. ZZ Top, Green Day, and Jimi Hendrix Experience are at worst 2 seeds. I don't know who you'd put in the 8th slot for the last #2 seed. The Police?...Do Genesis or Pink Floyd qualify, as they had more than the main 3 at various times?
Does a trio of Mick, Keith, and Charlie count, just because of longevity together (est. 1962)? If they're in, they drag the rest of the team with them and go on a run in the tournament and take the title.
Emerson Lake and Palmer Karn evil 9 1st , second and 3rd impression filled a whole side of the album and spilled over into the other side. I recall listening to that while experimenting with blotter acid , and flipping the cover of the album open and closed to look at the skull with the metal doohickey
Bronco, I saw ELP in 1974(I think!!) at the Cleveland "World Series of Rock" under the influence of three hits of four-way windowpane, it was memorably intense and an incredible show. they were at their peak and so was I!!
aside to thisistheshow --- Neil Young is the Master of Feedback, he does stuff with feedback that is mind boggling. there's a spot around the 9-10 minute mark in "Change Your Mind" from Sleeps With Angels there is the penultimate feedback display by his highness.
""I had a chance to see Jeff Beck about five years ago in Pittsburgh and the quality of his work was impeccable and almost effortless. it was in a smaller hall of about 1,500 and his version of "Led Boots" is what brought it home for me. after the show we wandered up to the stage as the roadies cam out and if my arms would have been about a foot longer I could have gotten Beck's setlist."
Keets, I saw Beck about the same time. Astounding light touch for a then 70 year old man. Saw Robert Plant last year trying to see them all while they are still touring.
I didn’t see Rush’s induction but saw Yes inducted. They went in with Steve Miller ( douche), Cheap Trick, NWA, Chicago and Deep Purple. Cheap Trick brought the place down

I was a late bloomer I waited until the 9th grade to try acid , that was 1981 . I liked it enough to want it everyday but no way could I come up with 4 whole dollars a day. That was real money I was relegated to once a week if that. In hindsight it was for the best . By that summer I had a job paying 4 dollars an hour but I had been scared straight off of the stuff by april or may so. Its a lot of fun until all of a sudden it isn't fun ever again .
Poor kids these days don't have any harmless fun drugs to teach them a lesson without killing them outright.

Nobody did feedback like Jimi Hendrix......I think the windowpane influenced your judgement.

Actually, this is inaccurate. Neil Young has been inducted three times. Once for his solo work, once for CSNY and once for Buffalo Springfield.
@Coinstartled said:
Rush had one good song. Cream had over a dozen.
Speaking of..... Eric Clapton is the only person to be elected to the Rock And Roll HOF three times. Cream, Yardbirds and solo. We go to the inductee ceromonies every year since they moved it to Brooklyn
m
He wasn’t elected into the Hall with Crosby, Stills and Nash.
So he was elected twice. You can fax me an apology.

I have to own this, man. I completely missed the mark on that comment. I could have sworn he was inducted with CSN, but apparently not! My bad!

Anybody else like "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum?
A classic, I just re-listened

I think "Rocky Mountain Way" was by Joe Walsh.......another great guitarist.
same guy just not sure whether he was in the james gang when he wrote it , or on break from the eagles , or off on his own after the eagles
I really like Joe.....he is a nut. Life's Been Good was another good one. I saw a show on his whole career once. Crazy guy!
He wrote RMW in 1973.

yeah, it used to be that Heroin was an "end of the line" drug, today it's a recreational entry drug.

Nirvana gets my vote.
IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED

Not a trio mind you, but the OP's name is 1970s so I gotta go with...

PS: Too bad they came along a few years too late for this but that third song would've been a perfect variety show theme! 😊
