Seems that IE maybe an issue and Chrome one of the fixes.

Another issue is that some with Chrome are having issues, too.

This option is to remove Chrome and re-install. This should remove any bad settings, apps, cache, etc. from the old Chrome environment and leave you with a “fresh” and latest version of Chrome.

The instructions are from goog and include options for iPhone/iPad, Android, and computers.

I highly recommend the downloading and saving of the new Chrome installation files before removing the old Chrome, especially, if this is your primary/only browser.

Have your computer literate child or grandchild on speed dial if you do not know what your doing. I would be sadden to hear someone removed Chrome and then not be able to access the internet and CU.

    YMMV

Java and Javascript are totally different animals.

Java is a stand-alone language owned (and IMNSHO abused by) Oracle.

Javascript is a scripting language standardized through (ECMA - The European Computer Manufactures Association).

The "beauty" of Javascript is that the same language can be used client-side (i.e. in your browser) and server-side (back at the hosting server). Javascript is how you make a site "rich" so it responds to the user's actions without having to go back to the server.

Javascript "standardization" isn't 100%. Just because it works on one version of one browser, means it works on one version of one browser.

Yeah, it's technically supported (minimally) by Microsoft but not for that much longer. Most tools are reducing or stopping support, few sites are testing on IE. etc. I know it's a favorite old shoe, but it has holes, the soles are separating and it's time to give it to the dog.

Microsoft positioned Edge as the replacement, but it never caught on. MSFT is in the process of replacing the internals of Edge with Chrome.

If you are running Chrome, RUN and make sure you are up to date - there is a nasty exploit running in the wild.

Click the three dots top right and choose "Settings" to bring up the "Settings" page. Click on the three lines top left and pick "About Chrome". Your version number should be (as of 9 March 2019) Version 72.0.3626.121 - anything older is vulnerable.

    IE Windows 10

I will not abandon IE. Custer made a stand, as will I.

No need to abandon IE, just use Chrome until they get the problem fixed.

Chrome causes excessive CPU activity on my laptop computer........and I suspect that Google uses Chrome users computers for bit coin mining. I do not have that problem with IE. Perhaps I should try Hemispherical's advice to uninstall and reinstall Chrome. If this works and my computer stops overheating I will post praises to Hemi.

Thanks for the update... always good to have someone out there that is looking out for us who don't know how to do it ourselves. Seriously!

If it helps anyone, I'm using Firefox version 52.9.0 on XP Pro. I have data storage blocked in addition to camera, microphone, etc.

I had a brief inability to edit posts a few weeks ago (which was noted and corrected by PCGS IT), but that is the only problem noticed.

I agree! Though unfortunately due to this being a third party forum software we have no control over how quickly they roll out the fix.

Shoot, that's right. We get a bug badge out of this...don't we? This would be worth it then. B)

I finally bit down on the coin and moved over to Chrome. The final straw was my 45 year old son telling me, "only old fogies still use Explorer". Since the change all functionality is back and the browser runs faster than Explorer. Doesn't look the same but who does at our age.

This is how those with the power force change. Want to get women to wear short dresses? Only produce clothes with high hemlines. Want to sell more ties? change the width.

Yea.............and want to sell more slabs, change to a 100 point grading scale. (I don't really believe that, but this IS a coin board).

I have used Chrome exclusively for a number of years. But I found Chrome to be a resource hog and causes my 10 year old laptop computer to overheat due to processor activity. If I have only one tab open, Chrome has 10-12 threads active. And I have four cores all working to manage Chrome. And as I have now been giving IE another chance, I find myself between a rock and a hard place.

Perhaps my 10 YO laptop is not suited to Chrome?

I didn't read most of the posts, but sometimes certain types of glitches can come from the server in various ways.

So it could have nothing to do with a particular computer, the software, or any browser.

But usually problems such as this are caused by an outdated or infected computer.
