I will add though, as far as scratch resistance and coin viewing, PCGS has the best holder IMO. I have one coin going to NGC now for a reholder into a "scratch resistant holder"(extra $5), I'll see how those are.
If you are going to reholder....... why not get it in the right holder?

Because it's not a Morgan and IMO is PL. It was graded back before NGC expanded the PL designation beyond Morgan Dollars. I'm actually sending it in for a regrade.

I see a lot of collectors and dealers try to cross NGC coins to PCGS. Does it go the other way? I do not know as I do not frequent their forums.
For whatever the reason (one is the collector likes the appearance of the holder or he wants his collection all graded by the same company), many folks even send coins to the second tier services to be crossed or upgraded. Some of these folks are large dealers who should know that their round piece of metal is usually worth more in a top tier slab! Oh, with a CAC sticker.
I have it on good authority that the cross rate at one second tier service is over 90% while the up-grade % is so dismal it is crazy to try except in cases of major "gradeflation."
What is stupid IMO, are the cases where folks who should know better send "detailed" crap in and expect it to get straight graded.

I really do prefer PCGS as I FEEL The coin is slightly more valuable in the PCGS holder. There my nose is clean.

Outstanding!!! Don't think anyone could have said it better. Now go wipe your nose off.
I wonder what the responses you'd get to this question if it were asked ATS.

The ONLY place to get a no-holds-barred and 100% honest evaluation/opinion of the plus and minus attributes of each major/minor grading service is on an independent coin forum. AND THAT'S THE WAY it should be!
With 29 years collecting a series, I found more coins in one holder more favorable to my liking over the other, like 50 to one. But I have many ANACS graded coins also.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
Interesting question- I decide where to send my coins to depending on the coin itself, the rarity, condition, and other factors (such as countermarks). I also think there are two perspectives, the Dealer/ commodity value one and the collector/ personal value one. There are perceptions in the market that certain TPGs add value due to their slab, but most of my coins are "collector" examples and fit just fine in any of the 4 top tier TPG’s holders. In this current market the guarantees are important in my mind- both for authenticity as well as proper variety identification, which I believe PCGS is the only one to cover both; I actually care less about the grade as I rarely agree with the label grade anyway…

the question is best answered looking at heritage , great collections , ebay and lots of other selling venues including shows. PCGS coins typically are the most liquid and often sell for more then the other top tier TPG. If your intent is to sell a coin and it has reasonable value PCGS makes sense. If your just adding to sets selectively buying a good for grade and issue well researched coin any holder is often a rational path, but resale is a factor eventually. Myself as more of a common man collector have 80% of my core collection in PCGS holders , opinions and perspectives will vary as they should.

They all do a good job eliminating most problem coins.
For value, it probably depends on the series.
Best thing to do is look at the coin in the PCGS price guide and check recent auctions.
Most people will logically go where the money is the most...

Yes.

The first thing I look at is the coin. Then I look at the price. If it's PCGS, NGC, or the old ANACS I just might buy it.
