Ever accidently bid on your own coin?

Currently selling some "stuff" on GC. And, of course, I always scan the GC listings for things of interest.

Just clicked on a mid grade circulated Walker, (F-XF early years always interest me).

I did figure out it was mine BEFORE I mistakenly placed a bid.....But I wonder if anyone has made that slip up? ;)

    On the old TTR sellers could bid on / buy back their material.

    Ya know, I don't even know what the GC rules are on that, having never actually considered it.

    The listings do have a helpful (if you are actually looking) indicator that "You own this item". And looking at it again, the bid buttons are disabled! So, even if I tried, I don't think I can.

    (Of course, the truly dedicated person with questionable ethics could probably create another account....)

    No, but I did ask to look at a gold piece with an interest in buying it because I liked the look of it in the case. As soon as the dealer got out, I noted that it was one I had recently sold that had obviously very quickly changed hands. If nothing else, I guess I have consistent tastes.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Yes, ebay and they did let me know that I can't bid on my own listings.....ugh

    Yep. Its pretty easy to do when someone steals an image of a coin that I already own.

    No, but I have searched eBay/GC and run across a nice coin and thought "Gee, that's a nice one", and then realized it was my coin.
    As @BillJones said, at least I have consistent tastes.

    Nothing wrong with that. I've also suffered a short time cash crunch. Good on you for holding it for him and making a few bucks in the process.

    If logged in to the same account under which you submitted the items Great Collections will not allow you to place a bid.

    GC and SB do not allow you to bid on your own coins.

    I did that this weekend. I like the 7/8TF Morgans…...and now I own two of the most common variety. sigh

    At an auction, I typed a bid online thinking I couldn't make the live event, but I somehow managed too. So at the live event, I was bidding against my own online bid. Cost me 200 dollars. :(

    No, I did bid by mistake at GC $8000.00 fo a $80.00 coin that I ended up winning for $150.00.
