Somewhat generic gold

As I have commented before that I have started acquiring cheaper pre 1933 gold. Figured I could post a pic or two of what I think is a decent value these days. As these are Indians, the premium over melt was not as low as I like, but around 20% over melt. Many dealers have lots of raw and lots of slabbed 62/63 coronets for even lower. So I get a backstop as a bullion play, scratch my coin itch, and add nice looking coins.
$5 is a 58 from host, $2.5 is raw
Not sure it’s for everyone, but I enjoy them.

I'm particularly fond of Half Eagles, especially the early and branch-mint varieties. From my current group of generic HEs, I'm sure there are a few examples of BLP's work in there... somewhere.

This type of purchase is my favorite right now. You can buy pre-1933 gold at near bullion prices. Double eagles and Eagles will have the smallest premiums actually smaller than current dates if you're patient and know where to look. I do suggest doing a little homework on counterfeits. Check out the book by Bill Fivaz that offers some good diagnostics to look for in general and also by date and denomination. "United States Gold Counterfeit Detection Guide"
Great coins! Congrats!

No, raw coins but there are dates, especially most common Double Eagles, where premiums are still small enough to take a chance on.
Have a really good source. Picked up for $165 and $320 two days ago... 1902 Quarter Eagle and 1905-S Half Eagle. How the heck could I not buy them? Quarter Eagles are a little harder to come by but you can pick up common date half eagles in the $320-$340 range all day long at local shows. Same "premiums" on common eagles and double eagles.
I know YOU were talking about raw. I'm telling you, and anyone else who cares, that the premium on 60 to 62 slabs is virtually no different than raw, especially on eBay bonus buck days when you can sometimes buy them at less than melt. (net)

Now CharlotteDude has the right idea.
Haaa! Sorry, It's early, thought you were asking a question. Yawn!
check around common slabbed double eagles are available at $1350-$1400 (7-12%) premium...if you are repeat customer or negotiate, can likely get a little better.
I will say, that those little $2.5, seem a little more costly to find slabbed. I still need to find a slabbed $2.5 Indian for my type set. They are not hard to find, it’s just that every time a see a nice on, they are around $300ish, and for a few dollars more, I can get twice the gold with a $5. So I always seem to come home with $5.
Nice coins. Love the handful of gold.
