What would you call this particular coin(ish)
COINS MAKE CENTS

So what would this be called? A piece of a lamination? Part of a split planchet? Just a hunk of junk? Struck on a foreign object?
More directed towards error folks, is this considered an error? Is there even a premium on something like this or should it go into my education examples book I take to shows?
Thanks for the help

Detached lamination piece
The struck side looks like the surfaces are damaged,
and so I don't think it would bring much in an Ebay auction.
It's a good educational piece, to show what the inside of
a detached lamination flap looks like.
If you had the host coin, it would be a better 'set'.
Thank you so much!

That is neat find! Was that found in a Mint bag/roll?
It was found in a group of errors I bought for inventory. I was throwing the cigarbox away and heard something inside and this was laying in the bottom of the box. Unfortionatly the rest of the coin in mia

I like it.
I'd call it @ 5 cents, more or less...
lamination chunk/flake
Neat find... I certainly would keep the piece as an 'educational' item - as you mentioned. Cheers, RickO
You stole my comment.

Your coin reminds me of the famous Morgan.

Maybe could have been junior's experiment with placing the coin in a vice and swinging a hammer at the top half to see if he could break off a piece!
But maybe that is wrong, as the coin would bend a lot before breaking, and the bend would show near the broken edge?
Too bad it wasn't broke off from the bottom. At least you know it was a Silver quarter from 1932-1964. I'd try to remove that rust.
