Roof does not look “floating”. Even if it was “floating” it is generally caused by an over polished die, no added value, but something neat to look at.

You do not “need” the Red Book or the Cherrypickers’ Guide but they are recommended.

Look here for some good internet resources: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1006619/sticky-this-book-index-books-to-read-on-numismatic-series-and-varieties

I'd say don't give up your day job in hopes that this "anomaly" will "catch on." Nevertheless, you demonstrate what I call "a great eye for detail." :)

    That's a "floater."
However I have not seen a person that would pay a premium for it.
It's quite common actually, and as was already mentioned, is a result of die polishing.

Keep searching... coin anomalies are fun to find... However, not all command a numismatic premium. Cheers, RickO

Not all that uncommon due to over polished dies.
I saw a ton of this on 96 Lincolns. If you look you can see that Lincoln was almost polished away too.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Trying to find minor varieties can be a big waste of time and eyesight. There are much better ways to "make ends meet". It is unfortunate that minor varieties seem to have considerable promotion on the internet as it is leading new collectors to believe they can make big money by finding such varieties. Finding anyone who will pay a significant premium for such varieties is likely to be much more difficult than finding the varieties themselves.

    All glory is fleeting.

It’s part of the hobby. Have fun with it 😉. Personally I think your floating roof is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing it.
    Happy hunting, Joe

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
