If you unexpectedly won $10,000

And had no bills that your normal income wouldn't handle....
How much would go into coins?
Bullion counts, too.

I would find a mutual fund with a good performance history and buy shares. Alternatively, I would buy adjusted inflation t-bills.
10K
For starters....The wife would take half off the top. So I only have $5000....
About half of that might go into coins, maybe.
I'd be about 40K short of my dream coin but it would get me about 3 examples that I need for my set.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I'd try to buy this coin:
https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1014688/the-bolen-woodward-silver-bar-cent#latest
It would go in my "pay off the house early fund". Should have it by the end of winter, from North Dakota so have a lot of winter left. 10K would get me there early. Afterwards the coin fund money can pile up nicely.
Might all go into the chamber but don't have anything I'm ready to pull the trigger on currently.

Come on, you’re smart enough to go with a low-cost ETF!
Maybe $2k.
$10,000 !!!
Don’t forget to set aside 1/3 of it for taxes.
I could see, if this money was just free to otherwise lay around doing jack squat, putting about $2500 into something pretty nice. Probably a Seated Quarter or 2, if you want the specifics.
Enough to buy a nice full date 1916 doubled die nickel. That's the only major die variety Buff I doin't have.
I would buy 250 MS61 Morgans and keep sending them to CAC until I got a gold .
Me also, but I'd be closer
My Saint Set
CAC gold beans no longer fetch premiums as large as those seen in the past.
I would buy a really nice, custom combat .45.... then give the rest to my wife...Cheers, RickO
7 AU double eagles and about $1K in 90% junk.
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
BOOMIN!™
Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Unfortunately no matter how much money I make I always have bills. But I'd probably put the entire $10K aside until I a nice looking AU 1860 Clark Gruber $10 shows up!!!
$1K
I did get $9 k recently. Back pay when I retired (unused vacation/holiday pay didn't expect that much) paid all debt ( except mortgage) spent near zero on coins.
Zero..... I'd probably just "add it" to my next trip to the craps, blackjack or roulette tables. Should be good for 20 to 30 mins on a bad day "or" more than is needed on a good day.
I’d take it to the Pittsburgh ANA show and look for a nice $10 CC Eagle in grade 30-55.
I am getting $4400 back from Uncle Same (yeah I filed late... LOL)
Probably $400 to cover trip to Dalton, Ga and the ANA grading class along with a microscope for a VAM study.
The rest will go into coins...
25% to crack/flip a Morgan
25% to a rare VAM for my long term Personal collection, with any left over cash being squirrled away for the next coin
25% to raw and slabbed coins for a particular common date for a VAM die study
25% to cash for future buying opportunities.

How about a tax free gift from a relative rather than"winning"....
All into savings until next year’s FUN show, then at least $2k, maybe more.
I would put $2,000 aside in the "coin fund". The wifes' birthday is coming up, so the remainder would go to purchase a small fishing boat. Unfortunately, she doesn't fish.
End Systemic Elitism - It Takes All of Us
ANA LM, LSCC, EAC, FUN
Think like a dealer, buy as a longer term investment. Metals have moved up a lot, but I would seek advice on the pm forum.
$10K is not much money these days, I would put it into retirement investments......
Now $10 million..........
8K into bullion, 2K kept aside as cash.
I knew it would happen.
It's becoming obvious that I should have made the amount $100,000
I'd get it in cash at the bank all twenty dollar bills ($20). Then I would spread them out on my bed and jump in naked and roll around in them for awhile. Then, go to the Baltimore coin show and buy American gold eagles. and for once make a profit in the next six months
Beware of a man bearing twenty dollar bills at the show.
Unfortunately? Newlyweds?
a wicked nice 1909 s indian head cent then drop the rest into an ira/401k
And turn my 10k into 6K buying coins? No thank you.
All in. AGB & GML.
$5k.
Successful BST transactions with forum members thebigeng, SPalladino, Zoidmeister, coin22lover, coinsarefun, jwitten, CommemKing.
Now that would make for a good Saturday night in Vegas.
Only if they know about it.
No bullion for me. 10K would buy me a 1829 curl 2 Dime VG-F.
I found $10,000 lying on the floor.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
A couple gold eagles or a couple new rifles and the rest into the grandkids' college fund.
Never mind coins... have enough of them..

I would go on a super South Pacific SINGLES Cruise on a Windstar sailing ship.
Maybe $1500-2000, I'd put a dent in some sets.
Sorry to say, but I probably would have to send $2-3K to the IRS.
Then maybe get about 3-4 MS64 PCGS Liberty gold eagles in some slightly better dates, as they are super low premiums now, fairly rare in that condition, and 100 years old. I am starting to get frustrated by some modern coins.
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
would try to find a gem $3 gold coin which would probably use the whole amount
A few 100oz bars and some type gold. The whole 10K no doubt!
My YouTube Channel
I'd buy a timeshare at TDN's new pool house.
I'd treat it the same as money I earn expectedly, so up to $100-200 could go to coins.
