One of the first coins I ever sold was this 1796 half dollar in the upcoming March Signature Auction
sorry I can't get the image loaded but it is lot 3114 in Heritage Auction # 1293
I'm surprised that a decade of provenance is missing.
I sold it 2006-2007

You may want to edit the date in your title. I'm sure many won't click, thinking this is about some bicentennial half.
I've never owned a '96, but always kinda wanted one.
Lot 3114 is an 1802 half

What a nice coin... even with the adjustment marks... any coin with '17' as the first two numbers on the date is awesome to me... Cheers, RickO
For Half dollar collectors, you basically have three kings: 1796, 1797 and the 1878-S Seated. For Barber Buffs, you gotta throw in the 92-o micro O. This would be a coin I would own if Jeff Bezos and I were neck and neck in the wealth rankings.
We’d love to see what you replaced it with!
Amazing how desirable that little 1/2 is. A dream coin in any condition.
A remarkable coin.
