My newest purchase from BS&T...

Had to pull the trigger on this one. Tough negotiations, but I got it. My only gold error, hell, my only error period. So, if you're only going to have one, go for the gold!

In a custom holder to boot...

You gotta show the holder, too!

    Congrats .
I've never seen a lamination error like that on a gold coin.
    It looks cool.

Almost all of my purchases for the past few months have been on the BS&T forum. You just can't beat making deals with people you know.

    Cheers

Yes some bad apples do exist, but overall I think the BST serves most members here well. Just follow the safeguards and one should be fine. It would be missed if taken away.

Great error. Do you plan on sending it to a TPG?

Thinking about it. But I really like the custom holder it's in now. The PO had it made and that wasn't cheap.

That was a real close one for me.
I'm almost glad you were faster. ;)
    But then again......oh dammit! :D:'(>:)

Very cool coin... certainly a rarity....Tough decision on sending it in... I think I would keep it as is.... Not sure though. Let us know what you decide.... Cheers, RickO

If you do send her in, it has to be to NGC. Unfortunately, PCGS will not slab these, for fear of chunks falling off.

I would think surviving like that for over a hundred years is proof enough that the lamination isn't going anywhere.

What a find ..... first error and the best first that is :) Congrats for messaging the deal to fruition :)

What is the coin's weight? Interesting to see with the lamination and then added piece what the final weight difference is from a newly struck coin.

The seller is a new member. We messaged back and forth. Seems like a really nice guy; lots of knowledge. I hope he sticks around.

Great coin; not sure how often these come up which is why I was considering it as well.

    Congrats!

Saw it and almost liked the holder more than the error.

Here's largest gold lamination error known a 1901-O $10 with a smaller lamination in front of Ms. Liberty's eye.

The lamination is legit and IMHO the coin should stay in that holder :)

Can't help but like gold errors.

Now you can step up to Proof gold errors. Wonder where this one is now that was offered in the August 1989 Bowers auction.
