proof gold dollar from my collection

I've been asked to post coins from my collection. Here is an 1860 PR G$1 CAM PCGS 65+ CAC. I am not good with technology or photo taking. Although the coin is listed as having a mintage of 154, Dannreuther estimates only 18-20 exist. I would rank this coin in the condition census.

Did you buy this out of the Jan 2018 Legend auction?

Definition of rare coin even in low grade, but that is most dote worthy.

Oh wow. That’s a really nice gold dollar. The early issues are great and in many cases a true bargain. I love proof gold. Congrats.

    Collecting since 1976.

Except that it last sold at Legend Auction in January 2018 for $25,850, which is why I previously asked Gazes if he bought it out of that auction. I am curious about his thought process. The coin sold for $16,450 in August 2017, and then sells at a 55% premium to that while wearing a CAC sticker. How much of that premium does he attribute to the CAC sticker?

    I guess 55%.

I think it would have been better to buy the coin in the 2017 August auction.

It had a plus and all CAC had to do was to agree that it was at least a 65 to get the sticker.

I did not buy it out of auction--it was a private transaction that involved a trade. I was very pleased to acquire proof gold from 1860 in gem with a total of 20 in existence.

    That’s a beautiful coin, congratulations!

I think it’s very inappropriate to discuss the purchase price of a coin or where it was purchased in this type of post.

Look at Gaze's post of one his other gold coins where he himself brought up prior purchase price and where it was purchased. These are auctions. It is public information. I asked Gazes if he would share his perspective on how much value he placed on his coin having a green bean. Gazes declined to discuss. I respected that and moved on.

For the record, looks like a great coin!
