Try to get books that are spiral. They lay flat. Also try to get a decent loupe to aid your viewing pleasure. Have fun and see you around these here parts. Peace Roy

And don't get discouraged if the boxes turn out to be all new coins. It happens sometimes. You can look for errors if that is the case.

You can also ask for smaller amounts of rolls at the bank and even ask if they have any "Customer Wrapped Rolls" (CWR) that people rolled themselves and brought in. (The rolls in the boxes will be machine rolled whether now or old coins). CWRs can in theory contain coins that have been sitting around someone's house for years.

my bank has a coin machine and you have to order in advance for anything more then 5$ but I'm still excited and cant wait. if I don't find anything this time I'll return them and try again. the part I'm having a hard time is the fees eBay charges so I'm looking into local companies

Yes, you are right - a bank with a coin machine won't have customer rolls. I have a few banks that I use, and the ones with no machine are where I sometimes get customer rolls.

I can tell you that with lower copper prices a lot of people have dumped their copper pennies back into circulation.

That's great to hear might stand a better chance

That would be great thank you so much

Tomorrow will be the two week mark. I'm so excited I can't wait. But I believe il place a larger order this time since it's such a long wait

I've been going threw the pennies that I ordered I've got one here that has no scratches on it but one piece of small coin missing is this of any value or is this just a minor imperfection

Yes the book is really helpful but it doesn't talk a lot about imperfected coins some of the 2018 pennies that I have found have small imperfections on them I shared some pictures a few moments ago do you know if they have any value

Awesome, Calvin. Five boxes of nickels will sure be fun. Hopefully these boxes will be of all circulated coins and not new 2018's. Be sure to report back to us on how many silver war nickels and Buffalo nickels that you pull.

Make sure you check out the Lincoln cent forum as well as coppercoins.com.

There are a whole lot of minor, but still significant, varieties that are out there in the long Lincoln cent series. You will need a strong loupe, and I would recommend a 20x Eschenbach Achromat. On the expensive side, but it will last you a lifetime and it is like putting on a diving mask under water. You will be amazed at the things you'll see.
You are not going to find something major that is in the red book in every box or maybe even every 25 boxes! That's why those varieties are valuable. Along the way, it is nice to find some ddos, ddrs, and rpms that are listed in other references.
There are 9 big doubled dies for 1972, and if you find die 4 it is probably twice the value of die 1 (the big one.) There are several ddos for 1984 beyond the doubled ear, 2 doubled die reverses for 1983, and did you know there is second significant ddo for 1995 in Philly and one from Denver... and they are both valued more than the big one?

Also check out John Wexler's site. I believe it is doubleddie.com or something to that end.

You'll have a lot more fun searching for ALL varieties (which number in the thousands) than burning through bank boxes looking for a 1955 ddo or key date. You will likely lose interest, and you'll most certainly glance over something that still holds value which you can in turn sell for something you want.

I have accts at four banks for various reasons, but the fringe benefit is that there are more opportunities to get rolls.

I have a contact up in Canada who's looking for "unsearched U.S. penny rolls". Are there banks or exchanges in Canada that offer such? Mailing any from the U.S. doesn't seem to make any sense.
