Just got these back from PSA this week. I had been searching quite a while to replace the PSA 7 1971 Topps wax pack I had sold a while back and am very pleased with this one as well as its Canadian counterpart.

Very nice Tim - why only 7 - they look better than that on my screen?

Why no series mentioned on the OPC pack?

Looks like they are grading wax packs as tough as they grade the individual cards. Wow. Beautiful.

Hey, some dude on facebook has these packs too ;)
    Great stuff, Tim!

Sweet packs Tim. Toughest 70’s pack by far to find.

Thanks, guys! I am super excited to add both packs to my PC.

Mike, I cannot see the card through the wrapper on the 71 OPC pack to determine the series. The lower series 1971 OPC packs (series 1, 2 & 3) all bear the yellow promo bubble on the bottom right corner of the pack. The high series 71 OPC packs (series 4) bear a red bubble instead and are very tough to find. There are only two 1971 OPC series 4 packs in the PSA pop report, both PSA 8. I have one of them and Tom Salem of OPC Baseball has (unless he sold it) the other.

The PSA 7 1971 Topps baseball wax pack is definitely high end for the grade. I was hoping it would grade an 8.

That's awesome Tim! Agree that the Topps looks like at least an 8 to me. If you ever look to part with the OPC, please hit me up!

Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

Nice! I should have known you'd have one, too, John! :)

Yours is not in the pop report because the series is not noted on the flip so I suppose there may be othes out there, but not too many. Here is mine:

Congrats on the packs Tim, what was your log date for the packs I've got a submission in there too and just wanted to see how they're doing these days?

Congrats Tim, amazing packs. I actually opened quite a few 71 packs, I would have been 7 years old.
Just from memory I didn't even remember what the packs looked like, so its great that at least some survived.
Was the insert a coin? I know I accumulated some baseball coins from some year in the early seventies, but
I think I eventually threw them away and don't remember what year they were in packs.

  • Options

Ryan, my submission was logged on 10/10 at PSA.

Thanks, Darin! Yes, your memory is correct, the insert was a coin.

Ok that’s not too horrible. I sent mine 11/20 so I’ve got a month left or so.

This obviously did not happen. I would hunt Tim down if he did that. ;)
