“I'm new to the forum. This is the first forum I've ever been on so bare with me. I was looking around on here and seen this and I'm in the same situation with a 1969 D Offcenter Jefferson Nickel. I'm not apart of any groups/grading companies. Any advice on it would be great. As soon as I can figure this out I will post some pictures and you guys can chime in and tell me what i have
Since I'm new I guess the pics will appear once approved”

You have a 1969-D Jefferson Nickel,
struck about65% off-center.
Interesting error coin.
Did the fact that the planchet was struck off center (so that the portion of Monticello struck on the reverse side of the coin was not located in the center of the planchet) contribute to the creation of what appears to be fully struck steps?
Fun to own, but not expensive. Probably 10 or 15 bucks I'd say.
bob
Also, does anyone have an idea what price this error coin would bring if it was sold?
I like it
Where did you get it from @101501coins
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb, Ricko
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
Because of the date, I'd say it's worth
more toward the $25 retail range, or
thereabouts.
When I first glanced at the reverse, I thought, "hey that's my coin".
Thanks KollectorKing, still trying to figure out this forum and whether or not it's worth joining a grading company and sending it in since I havent seen one with full 6 steps/partial. Or keep and hand down to my Grandchildren. I know these dates are hard to come by with any kind of steps. Thanks for everyones advice and Thanks for looking.
Welcome to the forums @101501coins! A lot of knowledge stored in this electronic universe with many knowledgeable people. Enjoy and soak it up.
I need some education on starting discussion's also. Is that something you haft to earn or do I just post it to my wall like I did this? Because I have alot of unique coins I would love to share.
Duh, tab new discussion
Nevermind
I am far from an expert on these but I recall from previous threads that full steps are common on off center strikes as the pressure is focused on a smaller area. So, scarcity of full steps on a normal strike is not really a factor.
Sounds like your coin is worth about $25, which would barely cover the return postage from the grading company.
A slab will not change what it is: a great off center error.
The 1969 D is the last coin I needed to complete my Full Step Adventure of slabbed/raw Bu.St. and Proofs. Lacking a few variety Jeffersons.
I know you guys have probably heard this over and over but,
The perfect 1969 D ghost coin will never be! I know/think there are a few examples out there somewhere but they are probably out of my reach. $$$$
This error coin will go in its slot and be tucked away. But,
I will always keep an eye out
Might get LUCKY
Very nice !!!
@101501coins....Welcome aboard.... Neat error coin and very nice pictures....Cheers, RickO
Thanks RickO, glad to be here. I'm sure I will learn alot of extra knowledge about Coins, from you guy's. It has been a great history lesson since I've started collecting. I cant remember what I liked more, holding old copper, silver, gold or just the plain history side of it.
