TV Series and Movie Numismatics Bloopers

When I'm watching an old TV show or movie, I like to catch little technical "inaccuracies" or bloopers. Examples, like when a six gun shoots more than 6 shots without reloading (that happens a lot) or a US Flag shown in a WWI or WWII film that has 50 stars on it. So the other day I was watching an episode of the Big Valley. They often use silver dollars in the Big Valley TV series when the cowboys are paying for drinks at the bar (or whatever), betting on poker games, etc... Anyway in this particular episode, there was some guy talking to a group of people about the size and weight of the silver dollar he was holding in his hand. He says the weight was less than 1/2 an oz. (well, of course that is wrong) but the real blunder is that the Big Valley TV series is set back in the ~1870's old west. But if you look closely at the silver dollar he's holding, you'll easily see it's a Peace dollar.... Of course they didn't start minting Peace dollars until 1921...
Here's a link to the video. Fast forward to 16:05 time mark it you want a numismatic laugh..

There's an old thread about these movie and TV bloopers. Can anybody find it?
"Gunsmoke" was the long-running television program set in 1880's Dodge City.
There is a "Gunsmoke" episode "Trail of Bloodshed" which shows some silver dollars and double eagles on a table.
Pretty, aren't they?

Some of the new movies take currency more seriously. There is a production company in town that comes to us to rent period currency for use in their movies. I’m happy to help them “keep it real”!
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
I love looking for things like this when I watch old movies. Thanks for sharing
I’ m ticked at you. I clicked on the video, and then just had to watch the whole dang thing.
Old memories....
We coin nuts probably make up .00000012 % of their audience too.
You'd think they'd consider us more.
I’m a big fan of Boardwalk Empire. They certainly did pay attention to detail with the coins and currency they used. They were extremely detail oriented.

I was watching a Western with my father-in-law. The show was set in the 1870's, but I saw a Walking Liberty half dollar during that episode.

That's funny, thanks for the post !!!
Lots of errors are made in these films/TV episodes... I see/hear things about firearms all the time that are totally ridiculous...silencers on revolvers, people get shot and the force throws them across the room, they find a spent cartridge and claim they can identify the firearm that it came from.... all totally crapola.... not surprised it happens with coins...and I am sure people expert in other fields see errors in those areas.
