I am reading a new book of fiction called "Bishop's Pawn" and to my surprise it ....................

................... includes two 1933 Double Eagles that are part of a decades long story involving the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI, Fidel Castro and other events taking place in the 1950's and 1960's.
A pretty good read so far.

Hmmm that does sound neat

Preface by Izzy Switt?
Cool !!!
Just looked at the blurb...I'm looking for a new series to read and it looks interesting...Are the military details/Justice Dept details accurate? (And, is the protagonist an actual JAG, or is it a 'going back in time' story for him, the description made it sound like he's a JAG, but the rest of the series refers to him as formerly with the Justice Department).
Sounds interesting....Most of my reading for the past few years has not been fiction...More monographs and focused subjects that interest me. I do miss good fiction though...I will look into this. Cheers, RickO
Finished the book.
The full title is "The Bishop's Pawn".
The two 1933 double eagles play a part in the story and in the story do not have any connection to Switt, the Secret Service, Farouk, Fenton or the Langbords.
The focus of the story is Martin Luther King, Jr, his life, his death, J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI.
The story is told during approximately 1999-2000 and 2018, 50 years after King's death. Flashbacks take place which transport one to the 50's and 60's.
The main characters are King, a close companion of King and a young Navy JAG lawyer/pilot/diver who by circumstance gets co-opted by someone in the U.S. Justice Department to take on an innocuous assignment that turns out anything but.
It is a good read that has an eye opening and thought provoking conclusion.
I give it a thumbs up.
