Reply from an eBay seller when I sent a message noting that my item had not moved from his local PO in about a week.

"we known you worried about it,we feel the same for you,we checked with post office for you. They have confirmed to us,the item is still on the way,we wonder if you could kindly understand and give us more days? Your goods are waiting for your arms. Your patience will be highly appreciated.
Looking forward to your early reply."
Yours sincerely,
Jessie

Is USPS showing acceptance of the item? If so the seller did his part. If not, seller hasn't yet shipped. If there is no tracking info on the USPS website, start the claim.

Seems that a seller can get a tracking # and not ship anything. More like uncomfort. Hope it works out for you. The seller's lack of command of the English language is not comforting.

I was posting about the humor of the reply. It's been accepted at his local PO, but hasn't moved. It's only Chicago to Des Moines so not that far. I'll give him a few more days. I'm not in dire need of the item.

yes, but a tracking number will show if USPS has possession of the item and the location of where it was accepted. At this point it becomes a problem with the PO (seller's problem) and not a problem with the seller.

I would not worry yet. I've got one I shipped on the 4th that just started moving again on the 27th. Today it says in transit to the next facility or what ever. It is in the weather zone. Fingers Crossed! Thankfully I have a patient ebayer that understands!

The situation, and the response, would give me concern....Good luck, hope you get your item. Cheers, RickO

Some responses are better than the items we wait for. I've had many items that simply disappeared in transit. It's a test of patience for both parties. I hope your arms are loving.

I thought somebody recently posted a similar response that they'd received.

Not concerned. I had an order from Hong Kong in a state of flux since mid-November and got my $$$ back.

This is an actual confirmation from an eBay seller 2 days ago.
It wasn't on a coin but I got a kick out of it.

"Thank you for your purchase from our shop!

Your item has been gently pulled from our warehouse shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow. A team of 42 employees inspected your item and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing. Our world-renowned packing specialist lit a local artisan candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your item into the finest gold-lined parcel that money can buy. We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire borough of Queens waved “Bon Voyage!” to your package, on its way to you in our private SmartGiftIdea jet on this day.

We hope you had a wonderful time shopping at SmartGiftIdea. In commemoration, we have placed your picture on our wall as “Customer of the Year.” We’re all exhausted but can’t wait for you to come back to our eBay store!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Sigh...

We miss you already. We'll be right here at SmartGiftIdea patiently awaiting your return. If the product you received was defective or incorrect, please reach out to us and give us a chance to correct the situation."

    ................. :D:D

That's the post i was thinking of when I decided to post my seller's response.

I have shipped 2 eBay items over the last month that have 'disappeared' in the system only to magically re-appear when they were scanned down the line. Both were dropped off with other items which were all delivered fine. A common theme with the 2 was they were both priority mail and both took a lot longer than priority should...one took 7 days. The PO tracking showed the tracking number was generated but that it about it until as mentioned they magically appeared again as being scanned close to their final destination. I did reach out to the buyers and advise them that 'Trust me, your package is in the mail.' but ya know how that goes sometimes!

My guess is that their arms are waiting for the goods.

From recent personal experience: If an Ebay seller prints a shipping label through Ebay (and receives a tracking number) then takes the package to the post office and just hands it to the clerk there's no physical guarantee or paper trail that he/she did so. I sent two packages the day after I printed the shipping labels and they're still not in the USPS system. That was 7 days ago.

Because of this I was educated that one can (and sadly should) stand in line, watch the package be scanned and acquire a scan receipt.

Maybe the clerk knows you and what's likely to be in the package and just set it aside. There should at least be a departure scan. Are your clerks on camera by any chance?

Is anything still moving in that deep freeze called Illinois’?
