2 cent piece grade

Hello all!

On January 22, 2019 I posted a thread asking for grade opinions on the below imaged 2 cent piece:

Thank you all that were kind enough to take the time to offer your opinions! They're greatly appreciated. There was a question posed as to whether this coin is graded or not: The coin is graded MS64RD.

My reason for soliciting opinions is I'm preparing to liquidate my numismatic collection. Although I love PCGS and it's my personal opinion that overall they do a fantastic job at all aspects of everything they do, grading is still a subjective human-based art and anything human-based has variances. Out of nearly 1000 PCGS graded coins I own I feel only three or four are (potentially) misgraded.

This coin is redder and substantially brighter than in the images. Other than that the images are an accurate depiction of just how beautifully clean and mark free the coin is.

This coin was observed in person by Ian Russel at Great Collections as well as by my dear friend Jim Foster from Liberty Coin. Both considered the coin 66RD with the "slight possibility" it could go RB.

My reason for soliciting opinions is to help me decide what to do with it (reconsideration, regrade, crack out or leave it be) before choosing how to enter it into the marketplace.

Thank you all for your input and, of course, I welcome any and all future input, help and advice.

John

It certainly is a nice coin.
I like it as a 65+ RB, which, as we know with copper could go either 65RD or 66RB.
    Super cool variety as well!
    What's not to like? B)

I think it's a MS65 also and it's red enough for me! Real nice 2 center!

That should go RB and 65 would certainly be possible. Cheers, RickO

Take the 66 (or even the 65) RB money and RUN!
You can also just resubmit or just put the coin up for auction because...... cream always rises to the top.

PS I'm not a fan of the coin at the current grade because it has a weak strike, both obverse and reverse, and the horrid red color!

Go ahead and crack it. Life is too short to miss out on these "roll the dice" moments. If the color is better than the image shows, and the coin's "flash" is all there, it should upgrade.
