Great American Coin Hunt - PCGS Coin Forum Style

SwampboySwampboy Posts: 13,116 ✭✭✭✭✭

I was thinking about @BackroadJunkie ’s post about the Great American Coin Hunt (GACH) being reported in Coin World and began to think what if our Forum could do something similar in conjunction. I know I could certainly release into the wild at minimum 50 ass’t buffs, war nickels, IHCs, steelies etc.
Their event runs April 21 to the 27th during Ntional Coin Week.
Whatever number the Forum released would be a drop in the bucket compared to the Dealer Roundtables' total but it could fun nonetheless.

Good idea. I planned on releasing in circulation some wheat cents and buffs.

I release a couple of hundred Wheaties and 50+ partial date buffalos thru
out the year. I just wonder how many are found and kept by veteran roll
searchers instead of possible new-mismatists? Just saying.

Would a 2 Cent piece be to much for the public to grasp?

Way over the head of the average American. You'd likely create problems for yourself.

No problem collecting them, just don't try to spend them.

I routinely spend Liberty and buffalo nickels. The looks on the faces of the cashiers are priceless.

Always fun to find an older coin in change....I will let a few wheaties and buffs escape my grasping hands. In this small town, I may well get them back :D We shall see...Cheers, RickO
