They do, in fact, from time to time. For what it's worth, this forum is a kind of community built around the exchange of knowledge, and the members generally frown on anyone coming here just to get something for nothing. That said, some of the members have been very generous.

Many members here are appreciative of the camaraderie and the freely exchanged advice from a huge number of skilled numismatists. Some like to share their good fortune. others enjoy giving as much or more than receiving.
Like I said I don’t want anything for free
But I started with the 50 states Denver and Philadelphia mints and America’s national parks. Ive got a few coins from Mexico Germany Canada Japanese and England. And for fun I’m trying to get each year of us quarter, dime, nickel and penny of each mint. Not much value but still fun.
You should take advantage of his generous offer -- he is very knowledgeable and shares a lot of great insights here. There is MUCH to learn.

Welcome to the forum @Calvinhardiman
Lots of good people here, just send them a private message (PM) if you want your info to stay private.
If you are from So. Cal area, Long Beach Coin/Expo is coming up Jan 31st - Feb 2nd and you can obtain free pass at Long Beach Expo website (or people here can help you obtain free pass). If you have young ones/kids, Sat Feb 2nd they have Treasure Hunts that kids participate and get free coins/stuff.
Enjoy and welcome!
I give free coins away often, to my eBay customers, particularly repeat customers. I have given away at least 20 Pcgs graded Coins in the last 12 months, and many “raw” coins.
I was very happy when a customer recently messaged me about getting 2 free Ike’s with a slabbed Eisenhower. He seemed excited with the extras.
I have also gifted random coins to forum members and also received gifts also. And not to beat a dead horse, but I recently won a free gold coin here on the forum!
Welcome to the forum. One of the nice things about collecting coins is that you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want to and can have fun doing it. There are some very generous and knowledgeable people here, and the information that they share is oftentimes very good and valuable. Many times the giveaways are done because someone feels that doing so is worth the information that is shared here.
If you are a new collector and someone on this board offers to send you free coins, accept the offer (If you are a young collector, please be sure to check with your parents first).
Use a postal mailbox address or a PO box if you're concerned about giving out your home address - God knows, neither Amazon nor anybody you've ever bought stuff on line from knows where you live .
Seriously, use the private message function to contact those people offering. We love to give around here - right, @Paradisefound ?
Let us get to know more about you and enjoy your time here. Those who aren't chased off find it pretty great place.
Welcome to the forum. You'll learn a lot here about any series that strikes your fancy. Don't be afraid to ask questions, the knowledge base here runs very deep and their always willing to share their expertise.
In the past I have given coins as a gift to a GF like a slabbed PCGS MS69 ASE. Any material gift might be gold coin necklace, PCGS MS69 AGE / AGB depending on seriousness / type of relationship like a recent anniversary w a GF recently.
I don’t see coins as gifts for kids unless young collector. I have given coins to young collectors at shows like BU state quarters out of a roll or circ Indian cent out of roll to encourage them in the hobby.
Well Calvinhardiman:
Welcome to the Boards. EMPHATIC NO it's not a scam. One of the most liked and cherished members of this forum is Paradisefound. She is very generous and caring to an extreme. I have given coins to several members on the Board, especially New Young Neumismatics. With me, It's growing up dirt poor and having nothing. I absolutely Hate to see anything go to waste. A coin sitting in my junk bin gathering dust because I don't collect that particular type is a waste. I would much rather it go to someone who will appreciate it. It's not about selling or making money, It's about preserving the history and Heritage of this great Country and our hobby. Whether or not you particularly will accept a gift from someone is your choice but when someone here offers, it's because of the love of the hobby, and they want to share the joy they get.
Bob Sr CEO Fieldtechs
P.S.: It is my 2019 resolution to be more like Paradisefound.
I join the others in welcoming you to the Forum, and echo what they're all saying about this being a great place to learn & share info (and sometimes free stuff as well).
I started out a lot like you when I was just a youngster, laying on the floor of my grandparents' house looking thru loose change and filling holes (for all 3 main mints) in blue Whitman tri-fold folders. I never outgrew that stage, but have since expanded into various denominations/series oth U.S. & foreign. I still have every folder and coin (and then some) since I started many score ago.
I found this Forum a while ago, while covering strike duty & bored out of my skull sitting in the office for hours on end with nothing else to do, It was a Godsend, as it put me in touch with so many knowledgeable people and contacts full of info. And the opportunities to buy/sell/trade for what I and others needed was fun as well!
A lot of people have had similar experiences as I on this Forum, whether they are at my lower level of collecting or are experts in different areas and/or have a wealth of knowledge and sizeable collections. There's always something to be learned. I think a common trait of most of the people on this Forum is the desire to share their appreciation of the hobby in general or their area of expertise with others, either in the hope of fostering the next generation of collectors or to "pay-forward" the help they've received.
So if you have a few "holes" in your collection, it doesn't hurt to place a list on the BST forum. You may very well find others interested in helping outright or thru trades. And if you can't reciprocate, you can always "pay it forward" to others you meet down the road..............
There are abundance of kindness and generosity in CU .......to share in so many ways
1st the knowledge and expertise voluntarily shared by the experts rendering valuable advice and secondly the supportive community itself for being there/here for strangers alike in time of need is priceless
The giveaways are just icing on the cake .
Scamming is NOT Allowed.
I've receive many gifts and they're being treasured for many decades to go
