MS67 if it wasn't for the scrape marks on the cheek and the slide wear on the eagle's breast. Probably ms62 due also to the lack of luster and overall midrange average eye appeal.
I would grade it a 63, conservatively. In hand I may up that to 64 if it has more eye appeal. Would the ding under the second 8 in the date affect the grade? Just noticed it.

Beautiful, 63 is my guess.

Which grader, PCGS, NGC or Anacs?
3,, ngc 4
63
Lower end 4....so NGC 64
I do think it will be a 4. That's a nice dollar and from the right place, too.

I could see a 4.
I’m stuck on “3” with too much cheek chatter.
Well, just Love coins, period.
N 4 or better. No significant marks, even gem like look, why would it get a 63 grade?
MS64
Obverse 63, Reverse 65, = MS64

63 if the cheek we're better maybe 4 even 5.
Is the coin "in hand" as frosty as the posted pictures indicate?
64 all day long.
Smitten with DBLCs.

It's a very nice looking 78CC FadeToBlack and great pictures of the coin that you did!
I don't see why it wouldn't get a 64 at least
Very attractive and I don't think 64 is out of the question.
NGC 64, PCGS 63+
64+ with that color and...."look". Shot at 65.
64-
I can get to 64. I think 63 is too harsh.
Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
I'm at a 64. There is a slight chance it might get a 63+.
On a side note, too bad it was not an S mm instead of the CC. A '78-S "long nock" in that condition would be huge!!
Initially I thought 63 due to the cheek chatter...then, looking at it longer, it could easily go 64. Cheers, RickO
I agree with you assessment earlier in the thread, but I think this will come back a 64.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
Looks like a solid 63 and doesn't even need dipped. congrats
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
MS 63 by my standards. Maybe NGC will call it a 64.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

This coin with a slightly golden tone and a lot more luster (with less damage) would be a pretty dollar.
MS64

I think it is nice than a 63. Might get a 63+ or hopefully a 64.
