Why do you call them "rare coins"? They both look fake and one is clearly marked "copy".

Not looking for negative comments just wondering if anyone knows what they are? Fake or not I was just curious.

"Rare" has a technical meaning for coin collectors, and shouldn't be used all willy-nilly (like it is almost always used on eBay).

This coin is not rare. It is a mass-produced base-metal copy of a Spanish-colonial silver 8 reales - also known as a "Pirate piece-of-eight". Copies such as this are frequently sold at Pirate-themed tourist traps or for other Pirate-related reasons. For example, you can buy a boxful of them, go out and bury them, and have fun with the kids playing "Pirate treasure hunt".

As JBK says, this one is clearly marked "COPY" - second picture lower left at around 7 o'clock. That, plus being made of the the wrong metal, plus the general crudeness of the design, all indicate this was not a coin intended to fool a collector.

Genuine "pieces of eight" with this design look more like this example.

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.

I find it hard to believe that you do not know what COPY means.

How does one get a hater to stop hating?
