USMint packages other arriving open

KkathylKkathyl Posts: 3,762 ✭✭✭✭✭

I had my first lost package last month and today a print package came to me stamped in red ink. “Received open”. Anyone else have similar experiences. Besides 6-8 week credit policy what did you do if anything?

Here is a picture of the print MLK jr that was in the package. On another note did get my first circulated star note.

If the mint product damaged, return for refund or replacement. You can submit online or by calling.

Never had a lost product from the mint but they do have a tracking number. Where did it say it was delivered?

    Nice star Grant.

Never delivered it when to GA 12/18 and never finished it was free budget smart ship fedex. FedEx says must be lost. It was 10 of the Innovative S Proofs and some rolls from D & P. I smell conspiracy 👸

The recent box I got from the mint did look like it had some out if place clear tape on it.

If you got that MLK from the mint since the BEP turned over order fulfillment to them, I am at least glad they used the cardboard mailers. I had expected them to throw the BEP stuff loose into an oversized box like they usually do with coins.

@Kkathyl if that is the back of the portrait I would say it IS damaged. Get a refund or replacement. IMO

As I recall the BEP put all the prints (each in their own envelopes) inside a plastic sleeve/bag, and then into the photo mailer.

I never got a damaged print.

This is the way my Proof ASE arrived yesterday. The flap was only being held onto the corner of the box.

Luckily, the ASE was fine inside, but with just a little help, would have fallen out of the box...

What a shame that the mint continues to disappoint. I'd make sure to get an undamaged replacement. If you don't complain nothing happens (yes, I know complaining to the goobermint usually means nothing happens anyway).

Was there any glue/sticky on the flap?

Sounds like the packaging department of the contractor is having a major issue.

Yes. And amazingly sticky it was, which is why it survived the trip.

Still, with the way the flap was sticking up, a solid whack with another package would have opened it up...

They've been having issues for at least the last few years. Best one was when I received a box of $1 coins instead of the quarters I had ordered. The other person was probably less than impressed with his order. They just switched the labels during packaging. Took a few phone calls to straighten that one out.

Several packages have arrived open and/or smashed. They don't seem to care.

All of my purchases from the Mint (five in the last two years) have been properly packaged and undamaged. Admittedly, I do not buy a lot of mint products, so perhaps I have just been lucky. Cheers, RickO
