Grade this 2 Cent Piece

Picked this up today for 49 bucks. Did I do good? Let me know your thoughts. Pictures don't show the luster too well and surfaces are a bit cloudy. I think its a 63 bn.

A little hard to tell through the plastic, but I think it’s XF45, shot AU50.
Edited: with the additional photos out of the holder I will up my grade to 55.

    I'd be around AU53.

I am not seeing the luster in the pics. Nice detail, I would give it a solid AU. With some better pics showing full luster I may change my opinion.

I’m going au53 as well. It’s hard to grade with pictures but regardless I don’t think you did bad at 49$

I'll try to get some better pictures.

There is some cloudiness in the fields but no wear on the highest points. The E in WE is often weakly struck as it shows on this coin.

    55+/58
Edited to add that the reverse rim hits (though small) are numerous and rather distracting...will likely limit the coin to 53 or so.

I think you got a decent deal as the 1868 is a scarcer date. I would call it XF without seeing it in hand. Personally, I would like some pop to it at that grade level.

Here are some better pictures. I'm trying to show the cloudiness in the fields. Usually the small spherical design above the shield will have a flat spot at AU but this one does not. If you look down near the date you can see a finger print or something in the fields. That is how much of the coin surface is.

Gem uncirculated brown and a total rip for $50.

It looks nice for the price paid. The detail looks solid but the fields look off. My gut tells me AU. Maybe you have one of those AU63s there. I would probably pick the little bugger off the U in Trust.

Good job on those photos, lots of detail!

I would say AU50.... based on your pictures.... Two cent pieces really seem to be a neglected coin type... I really like them. Cheers, RickO

Ok, since it seems you are a professional grader, what would this coin grade?
