A guy a work with had this picture of this coin that his father-in-law owns. My gut tells me it fake. This is the only picture I have right now.

Unfortunately the Massachusetts piece is a modern fake. Many fakes have been made over the years of certain colonial coins. Most are easily recognizable due to their fabric. Some fakes though are exceptionally well made and have fooled the best of the best, even the TPG’s.
I disagree. IMO, this piece was not made in the last 30 years so not "modern."
How do you know what I consider modern to be?
