The "special sauce" doesn't hold up very well -- gets rancid.
They were only redeemable in 2018 during the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac.

It makes me wonder how much my pet rock is worth.
Very interesting. Actually, since the token has expired, $25 for a set still sounds pretty solid. That is about what I paid for mine from the source, and I got stuck eating all those Big Macs!

I'm holding on to my set.
Thanks for the update!
Twas a silly thing.
Still waiting for my stomach to settle down after eating the big macs to get the tokens.
I'm keeping my set, too. I still think they are cool...

I think that's a solid price.

Originally the value was in the opportunity to exchange a token for a Big Mac. Let's say $4 a sandwich or $20 for the set.
Now the value is in the metal (a dime?) and the novelty. The redeeming value is gone.
I'd buy a set at $10 for the novelty. I remember when these first came out and consumed one every weekday when I was in college in the early 70's. (and yes, it didn't kill me)

So all of the artery clogging by forum members was for nothing?

Thread Resurrection! I had forgotten about these.....
Complete sets of 5 are selling for $50 on Ebay.
Now look at certified examples in high grades. Seen several sellers asking a few hundred each for high grade NGC examples on eBay.

To see actual mintage/values on these, you need to refer to the RED, er...MAC-BOOK or the DIJON GREYSHEET for reference.
I only ever got one at the time. Most of my area ones didn’t stock them or ran out. Still have it in the original packaging. I thought about slabbing it but decided to just leave it be. Always wondered if there was much value to it. I wonder how many were actually redeemed for a Big Mac?
I loved these when they came out. I thought they were fun. Totally forgot about them since.
I don't see a lot of them in estates.

This promotion was one of the best money makers for me.
I started out buying Big Macs just for the token and learned from the managers that this burger was the most complicated product to make. Also, prices were different at some locations. Then there was the BOGO free promotions.
I would order up to 20 at a time and give them away to the homeless sitting outside of the stores.
Eventually, the managers learned to just sell me the coins. There were so many locations to buy from it was easy to accumulate to flip them on Ebay.
Never redeemed any for Big Macs. Sold all but one set which I still have in my collection. Never got any graded either.
I ate a lot of Big Macs that month. I got the full set plus an extra. Luckily one manager let me look through his pile of tokens to get the last two I was missing (he did not even realize there were different designs).
I also found out that a Big Mac is reasonably edible cold out of the refrigerator.
Big difference between asking vs. sold prices......
Kind of reminds me of the mini-Beanie baby craze. Many collectors (usually flipping 40 something moms) would purchase a dozen happy meals and dump the meals out of the drive-through garbage can on the way out and keep the toys.
