What is known about this grading service?

My son was gifted some miscellaneous old coins and some were in holders from "National Coin Grading Service". So far have come up "snake eyes" on line. Any body know anything about them, or it, or whatever?

Who?........sorry, but just another fly by night grading service. It seems you could tell them the grade you wanted and they would put it on the label. Most are way off by a lot.

Someone gave your son coins in "National Coin Grading Service" slabs. Yes, "snake eyes" or maybe "snake oil" is the correct description of them.
Once in a while a decent coin would somehow wind up in one of those fly by night holders, but don't get your hopes up. Some pics would help.
I have seen them and they are total garbage.

I don't have a picture, but Wabbit2313's picture is dead on. Looked cheap, more like a rip-off than anything ligit. One coin was a Seated Liberty Half. Coin itself was over graded as a VG and I suspect harshly cleaned.
Appreciate the feedback. Suspicions confirmed.
There was a guy in Florida convicted of fraud, who used several supposed slabbed and graded type coin sales to scam people. Use the Google, it's there.

The 'company' is what is commonly referred to on the Board as a 'self-slabber.' The holders are the kind you can buy on eBay that snap together and the coin is held by a foam insert (or sometimes a plastic insert).

If ever the phrase 'buy the coin, not the holder'applied, this is it.....And if adhering to that advice, it is unlikely that anyone would purchase coins in these slabs...I am surprised some of these are still floating around out there...well, maybe not too surprised... since some old collections get buried in the cellar, attic or spare room for years.
