1916-s buffalo nickel in a DGS holder.......

Here is a “1916s buffalo nickel” which was slabbed by DGS coin grading service. You may remember that for a couple of years
David Lawerence Rare Coins bought out PCI and turned it into DGS. I think they did a pretty good job but this is an exception!
I called them and they removed this coin from their inventory. Comments?

Not sure what they were asking for it, but I would've bought it. That's one of my favorites, and to have one in a TPG slab would've been cool.

That was my thought as well, fake - though it seems a little better made than other contemporary counterfeits I've seen.

This one is well-known. It is sometimes referred to as the 'Skinny Buffalo' counterfeit, becausethe buffalo's belly doesn't 'hang' as much as on a real buffalo nickel and goes almost straight across. Other markers are the missing designer's initial and die crack on the obverse.

For those who collect/study Buffs, that one is fairly obvious...surprised it got slabbed though. Cheers, RickO
