My 1877-S over horizontal S 25C was described as having prooflike surfaces from the dealer I purchased it from. I really need to get it trueviewed through the older holder.

This is the only one I have.
ANACS 20C 1875 AU58PL.
This is my most interesting coin, and I think it is a lightly circulated proof. This is the only BF-3 found so far. John Frost has determined (via progression of the die scratching on the reverse) that the BF-3 was coined before the 1875 BF-1, making this coin to be the earliest Philadelphia 20c.
It would make sense that the first issues were probably proofs.

Not graded "PL" on the holder. In a PCGS Unc details, cleaned holder. But still cool IMO.

I really like the look of prooflike gold. Collectors can own and enjoy these beautiful coins with reflective fields at a fraction of the cost of proof examples. Generally PL $20’s look better in hand than in images because the abrasions on the mirrored surfaces are exaggerated. Less than 1% of double eagles are truly prooflike. The most common prooflike dates are 1904, 1904-S, and 1898-S.

Here is a prooflike 1905-S $20 of which only 18 have been designated prooflike.
