My fish endeavors killed my coin collection when I was 15-17! I had more aquariums than I can remember! 3 Saltwater Tanks and 10 or 12 Fresh water Tanks. I worked in a Pet Shop and made house calls to customers with aquarium woes! I even had a nurse shark I used to catch fish to feed. I'll never forget taking it out of the shipping container and it squealing like a pig!
This was back in the 70's when Salt Water tanks were challenging to be successful with.

@amwldcoin that is amazing, I am always fascinated by saltwater, it is so diverse with different types of creatures. What I real love about African cichlids is there personalities. They love to fallow me around the tank, and bite my finges when I had feed the krill. 😂
I am grateful for my life today as a direct result of my wife getting me to the VA hospital at the peak of my despair. Made it to the other side of 43 years of PTSD and life is good. Have a great holiday, which ever way you celebrate. Peace Roy
My fascination was probably greatest with Trigger Fish...and yes they have personalities galore and will bite your finger(and they do have teeth!). The funny thing about Trigger Fish is it is not recommended to put 2 together in the same tank as they would kill each other. I solved the problem! I had 8 or 10 in the same 55 gallon tank....they never knew who to fight. Forget about keeping the tank arranged the way you want it. They would move pieces of Coral way bigger than they were That tank was in my room and sometimes they would keep me up at night! Most make a very audible sound like when you use your lips to make a smack smack smack sound. Wish I had some pictures.

This is week 4 of my total knee replacement and today is the first day I can walk without a walker.
Quite the painful ordeal but I think it's finally turning the corner.
After a decade of deep darkness, found a new light in my life and got her to marry me barefoot in the surf of Maui (our sister State). Four boys out of the house. Love em but nice to have the place to ourselves to really play "house" as much as we want!!

We did! Celebrated our 1st anniversary at Palauea (White Rock) Beach last year. Also went to Nakalele Blowhole, but it was too cold and rainy (slick) to climb down and see the heart.
Will be in Kona/Volcanoes in January to see what's left of our travels there in 2014. Gotta have our annual sunny beach fix to make it through the long Alaskan winters!

I'm happy with who I am, how I look, my physical abilities, my intellectuallity, things that I have acquired through the years, but most importantly, my family and friends.
My life isn't perfect but I know that I'm blessed. My struggles have strengthened me and have made me the person that I am today.

Palauea (White Rock) Beach... a house across the street went for over $40 mil last year. Clint Eastwood got a home there also. Makena used to be a dust bowl.... now its just crazy expensive.
I'm thankful for this woman right here... love of my life. Although she sometimes picks on me about my being a hopeless "coin nerd", she totally respects my passion for numismatics and the history it represents.
And to keep it coin-related - here are the gifts that woman gave me for my most recent birthday, which I think attests to her respect for that passion:
My neighbor, who was one of the nicest people I knew, died from a heart attack while milking his cows. He was 60 years old. Every day I drive by his farm I miss him and think about him as I see relatives and people going through his lifes work on the farm trying to make sense of it all. The hardest thing is knowing I won't be able to stop by anymore. I am thankful I had the opportunity to know him and also it makes you realize that each moment is precious.
I guess I pretty much echo what everyone else has said, also thankful that my neurons are still working well enough to think and type up this here posting! Losing my dad made this a tougher year, but I look at it as he got to live a long, mostly hospital free life (84 years).
Looking back for me, I can't say I've ever regretted taking vacation and wishing I spent that valuable time back at work.
Having lost my mom at age 100 two months ago--that was expected, of course, although there is always a void--and my dear, beautiful middle sister Sheila unexpectedly in a fall a couple of weeks ago--just an absolute, unexpected horror that I am sure we will all never fully recover from--I am grateful to have Mrs. VDB, first, foremost, and always, the wookies Saturn and Neptune, and two surviving sisters plus my own good health and that of Mrs. VDB, more or less. Not many men age 69-going-on-70 can run 7.5 miles in July in Dallas (I was down there for Mom's 100th birthday, the farthest single-day run I tried this year). Without your health and your faith (and your reputation, I would add, in this business), you got nothin'.
Wishing you all a blessed Merry Christmas / Happy Hanukkah.
