    No, but a high grade cent has more collector premium attached to it or maybe if it is some sort of variety.

    No. There seems to be a current fad among new collectors (and some old ones as well) to look for very minor die varieties or errors in the hope of striking it rich. The problem is that these coins are the province of "cherry-pickers" who, by definition, don't pay premiums for such coins ... they "cherry-pick" from circulation or dealer's stocks without having to pay any premium.

    So far as the very high grade coins that appeal to registry set collectors ... the chances of finding one of these raw is remote and the potential for big expense trying to get such a coin graded by a major Third Party Grader (TPG) is high.

    Invest in the Cherry Pickers Guide... You will find it most helpful... Get both Volume I and II..Well worth the cost.... Cheers, RickO
