Reconsideration and Gold Shield Question
Probably a question better directed at customer service, but if I send in a group for reconsideration and select the Gold Shield service do I automatically pay another $5 for every coin or just the ones that change and are reholdered? Figured I'd ask here in case others are wondering the same thing.

I believe you would only pay for those that changed and needed to be reholdered.
But let us know what customer service says.

No response from CS yet, but in the meantime I've come up with another question..

If a coin upgrades and there is auction history on coinfacts for it, will it keep showing the results? This could make, say, an MS65 coin look like it has sold for MS64 money. (yes, I know, same coin should be the same price regardless of grade on holder)
This is a similar issue for adding a variety on a reholder, the previous price shown is from when a coin was not properly attributed making it seem as though a tough to find variety sold at the same price as its non-variety counterpart.

You only get hit with the $5 if it upgrades. Last submission I did was this exact scenario.

Hello,
If a Reconsideration coin does not upgrade, and in turn is not placed into a Gold Shield holder, if you are charged the additional $5/coin fee for Regular Service Level submissions and below, please contact PCGS Customer Service Monday through Friday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM PST at 1-800-447-8848 and we will issue a refund for the $5/coin overcharge.
The same thing goes for Crossovers, if for some reason you're still charged the $5/coin Gold Shield fee for any coin that does not cross into a PCGS Gold Shield holder, please contact our team and we will issue a refund.
Please remember for Express Service Level submissions and above, the Gold Shield fee is included in the grading fee. The grading fee will be charged regardless if a coin upgrades or not (Reconsideration) and if it crosses or not (Crossover).

Hello,
I am not sure but I will see if I can get you an answer on this one as well.

Thank you PCGS for the information !!!
I have another, related question...
Can you have PCGS Gold Shield all submitted coins whether they upgrade or not?
What combination of boxes do you check/not check on that infernal submission form?
I've tried twice to do this and I get all sorts of chaos back.
Express level > $3K coins in standard holders w/ True view???
Express level coins not reholdered when TrueView , reholder & reconsideration boxes checked. (no upgrade)
< $3K regular submissions with True View & gold shield express level getting split and sent 2 weeks apart with non-upgrades send in under 5 days???
My Saint Set
Thanks for the info!
Should I just leave the price info blank on the submission form and write "Reconsideration quarterly special" in an open space somewhere?

Got charged the extra $5 per coin on them even though no change.
Will have to call CS to get that $20 back

One time I did a quarterly special and they did not automatically adjust the price. The next time I wrote, "Please adjust price for quarterly special" on a post-it note and stuck it to the submission as well as writing it in caps in the notation field. CS did credit the prior one when I inquired.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I usually write a note with a Sharpie to catch the eye of whoever is reading the form.
I get the feeling that billing is done completely separate from the grading... whoever did the paperwork probably does not know the coins didn't get the secure service.

Hi @ChrisH821
Sorry for the delay in responding!
Auction results will only follow a coin> @PCGSCSManager said:

If a coin sells as an MS65 then later upgrades and keeps the same cert number, the price that will be displayed will be for the coin in whatever the current grade is at the time you are checking. The MS65 price will not "follow" the coin if it's upgraded to an MS65+ or any other upgrade.
