    When I was in the plating business (gold, silver, lead, tin, copper), we called what you see on the obverse, 'the purple plague'....It would happen when contaminants entered the silver baths..Cheers, RickO

    Agree, and given the spread it almost looks like it's supposed to be that way.

    VAM-3 is not rare but is probably kinda tough to cherry these days as so many variety guys are on the lookout for it. VAM-4, with the micro "D" is very hard to find as it's much rarer.

    There are a couple other vam 3s lurking on ebay but that was just a bonus for this one.
