When I was in the plating business (gold, silver, lead, tin, copper), we called what you see on the obverse, 'the purple plague'....It would happen when contaminants entered the silver baths..Cheers, RickO

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
VAM-3 is not rare but is probably kinda tough to cherry these days as so many variety guys are on the lookout for it. VAM-4, with the micro "D" is very hard to find as it's much rarer.

Cranberry sauce is tough to clean off.
You gotta lick it off
Dipping it in Martinelli's would be more palatable.
All this licking and saucy is making me coiney
Merry Christmas to you & a nice Vam too
Teresa was Italian so it's probably tomato sauce.

Do you know that you have a doubled die obverse, VAM-3, there?
Nice! Too bad it isn't the small D variety though.
Collector, occasional seller
It's still a nice example of a "naked eye" doubled die.

Agree, and given the spread it almost looks like it's supposed to be that way.

There are a couple other vam 3s lurking on ebay but that was just a bonus for this one.
Well, that's a nice one!
Nice.
