A sad passing. Condolences to his family and friends here, in the Philippines, in Thailand, and around the world.
Rest in peace. Best wishes to the family.
That is a very nice Tribute to Daniel @wondercoin.
Very sad news. It was always a pleasure to view his sets. May he rest in peace.
@wondercoin I'm so very sorry to hear of JHF's passing. He was exceptionally nice to me whenever we spoke here. What a collector. His 1946-1964 Roosie dime set was historic and certainly all world class.
I actually was thinking about him the other day and always wondered what his name was.
Many condolences to you for losing a good friend and also to his family.
Later, Paul.
RIP Mr. Rosenthal. He was a great collector, indeed, and he was fortunate to have a numismatic friend and sherpa like @wondercoin!

Sorry to hear about this. That was a very nice tribute, wondercoin. I think I remember seeing some of the Philippines pieces sold on Teletrade years ago (?) and being impressed with the quality.
Sad news Mitch. I'm sorry you (we) lost another brother. My thoughts and prayers are with all the friends and family...
The Man who made the 1960-D PCGS MS64FS Jefferson nickel infamous. Of course, there are a few others out there that still need debunked including that poorly struck 1954-S PCGS MS67FS. But that's for another day.
JHF made coin collecting a little more interesting for many of us, I'll give him that.
RIP

My Jefferson Nickel Collection
Never met the man but when I started playing around with Philippines coins and barely edged out his #1 Proof type set he was gracious enough to let me have 1st place for a year even though he could have had the rank back the very next day. Shooting the breeze with Charlie Browne his name came up and he told me he was at the top of his list of nice people he had met in the hobby . RIP sir!
A nicely written tribute Mitch. I too shared collecting stories with JHF when I was working on a full step Jefferson registry set back in 2006/7 time frame. Though busy with his business dealings, he always found time to converse about Jeffersons. RIP Daniel.
nice write-up and 'bid higher' is a nice line
I had not met Mr. Rosenthal, but I did admire many of his registry sets.
I believe Just Having Fun was a very appropriate nickname for him, as it looked like he had a lot of fun putting those collections together.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Thank you @wondercoin, that was a fabulous tribute. I did not know justhavingfun except from his posts but I wish I could have met him because I am certain I would have liked him. RIP

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
I'm very saddened reading this as we exchanged quite a few PM's on the Standing Liberty quarter series. I will never forget when JHF mentioned here on the forum that my AU64 17-S T-I SLQ had the perkiest nipple he'd ever seen on that date. Also departed member MFH and I attended the lot viewing of JHF's SLQ's and spent a few hours admiring & taking notes, as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see such exquisite examples.
Damn I miss Mike!
@Justhavingfun
RIP

I will go back in time to read yours as my tribute
At Daniel’s funeral here in Thailand, his Rabbi spoke at length (and told many stories) about just how wonderful a man he was. One story that really hit home was when the Synagogue needed to raise a great deal of money quickly for a building fund and offered the congregation members a very special plaque on the wall for anyone who would contribute a certain high dollar value donation. Daniel wrote the Rabbi and asked if he donated twice that amount would the Rabbi promise him no plaque. That’s the kind of guy Daniel was.

Sad to hear this. I still have three deep cameo proof nickels I bought out of his set. The 1903 should not exist. He truly enjoyed his coins.

I'm so sorry to hear this.
I always looked forward to JHF's posts and his exchanges with myself and other collectors. his enthusiasm and passion were as contagious as his manners and respectful replies.
I hope he was able to complete his "elephant" collection and look forward to seeing it.
